The Blackmail Files: Epstein's Surveillance Infrastructure

A database-driven investigation into hidden cameras, labeled DVDs, videotaped encounters, counter-surveillance operations, intelligence connections, and the anomalies surrounding Epstein's death — drawn from the 1.3-million-document DOJ/House Oversight corpus, 73,994 email threads, 49,770 financial transactions, FBI evidence logs, and Bureau of Prisons internal reports.

Palm Beach Police warned officers executing the search warrant about "covert cameras throughout the house." In March 2025, FBI Director Patel requested a review of all video evidence; the SDNY responded that no bedroom cameras were found — but the FBI never seized the functioning 2019 surveillance footage because it "was not responsive to the warrants."

Part I: Hidden Cameras — A Pattern Going Back to 2003link

The Clock Camera (2003)link

The earliest documented evidence of Epstein purchasing and deploying covert surveillance cameras comes from a Palm Beach Police Department burglary report in October 2003:

"Epstein told me that he had purchased a spy camera from a store on Okeechobee Blvd. and had set up the camera which was in a clock in his office facing the briefcase with the money in it."

The camera was connected to a computer hard drive for recording. It captured timestamped still frames. Epstein showed the police his computer monitor displaying the spy camera footage — it had caught his former houseman Juan Alessi on video burglarizing the house. Police removed the surveillance equipment from the residence on October 15, 2003.

Eleven years before the Kleenex box cameras, Epstein was already buying spy cameras and hiding them inside everyday objects.

The Professional System at Palm Beach (2009)link

In July 2009, ETC, Inc. — a Fort Lauderdale security vendor run by Fred Ogg — prepared a formal surveillance system proposal for 358 El Brillo Way, Epstein's Palm Beach estate:

"Pinhole cameras will be provided in the call boxes for the front door. Pinhole cameras will be provided in the front and main gate call boxes."

The proposal specified:

• Pinhole cameras hidden inside intercom call boxes at the front door and both gates
• IR bullet cameras (Nuvico Extreme Color Day/Night) covering garage, staff parking, front parking, driveway, and dock
• A customer-provided American Dynamics Digital Video Recorder in a rack in the service closet
• Internet-accessible recording: "With the proper password, the cameras may be accessed from any computer with internet access"
• A 22" Samsung LCD TV for a security guard to monitor all cameras simultaneously

Notably, the proposal states: "We are not providing inside cameras" for the garage and back hallway — an explicit exclusion that raises questions about what interior cameras may have existed separately.

Total cost: approximately $14,400 for equipment and installation.

The Kleenex Box Cameras (2014)link

On February 5, 2014, Jeffrey Epstein sent a one-line email to his logistics fixer:

"lets get three motion detected hidden cameras that record, thanks."

The response came the same day:

"I already two purchased the Motion sensor camera from the Spy Store in fort Lauderdale yesterday... its amazing how small they are, the size of Thumb nail drive, 64 hour recording, Motion sensor,. I'm installing them into Kleenex boxes now,. I'll bring them by later today."

Hidden cameras. Disguised in Kleenex boxes. Purchased from a spy store in Fort Lauderdale — near Epstein's Palm Beach estate. Motion-activated with 64 hours of recording capacity. Three ordered, at least two purchased and installed the same day.

The NYC Townhouse Checklistlink

A staff checklist for preparing Epstein's 9 East 71st Street townhouse before his arrival includes three adjacent items:

"Check sound and video systems" "Check wifi and micro cell" "Kleenex boxes full?"

Sound and video systems. A micro cell — a femtocell that routes cellular calls through the local internet connection (enabling interception). And Kleenex boxes kept full. Given that Epstein's staff were installing cameras inside Kleenex boxes, this checklist reads differently than a simple hospitality protocol.

Kleenex on the Aircraftlink

In May 2015, Epstein's chief pilot Larry Visoski reported:

"I noticed there was a Kleenex box sitting on top of your VIP light switches. I wonder if the weight of the box pushing down on several of switches at same time has any effect."

Part II: "Cameras in the Massage Room"link

Seven years before the Kleenex cameras, Epstein's legal team was drafting a defense letter. Alan Dershowitz's office sent Epstein a draft for review. Epstein's edits were revealing:

"I would amend the place where it says he wishes I had cameras in the massage room... IT would be illegal..."

Dershowitz's team had written that Epstein "wishes he had cameras in the massage room" — presumably to prove the massages were innocent. Epstein struck the line because it would be illegal. He knew the law on recording. He understood exactly where the legal boundary was.

By 2014, he was buying hidden cameras anyway.

In January 2015, when a Mirror UK article alleged "hidden cameras in guest room walls" in relation to Prince Andrew, Nadia sent it to Epstein. His response:

"all made up. they just write what they want."

An associate replied: "well, as long as they were not in the bathroom..."

What the Police Already Knewlink

Palm Beach Police knew about the cameras before they entered. Their search warrant operation plan for 358 El Brillo explicitly warned officers:

"There is confirmation that there were covert cameras throughout the house. Officers are to be reminded that they will be on tape therefore — watch what is said and watch what is done."

The police didn't suspect cameras. They had confirmation of covert cameras throughout the house. Officers were warned they'd be recorded.

Part III: DVDs from the Safelink

The most damning physical evidence came from Epstein's personal safe. Prosecution exhibit GX-332 from the Maxwell trial reveals the forensic metadata:

The folder path tells the story: Epstein - DVDs from Safe\Brown. DVDs were stored in Epstein's physical safe, organized in subfolders. The file "virginia lsj.psd" — a Photoshop file — references Virginia (Roberts Giuffre) and LSJ (Little Saint James). It was created in 2002 and recovered by forensic examiners during the investigation.

But the safe contained more. A separate evidence catalog reveals additional DVD contents:

"GM" is Ghislaine Maxwell. The Clinton folder references trips to Morocco and the Far East. These DVDs were in Epstein's personal safe — not a filing cabinet, not a desk drawer. A safe. Organized by name.

Part IV: "Epstein Videotaped Encounters"link

A 2011 DOJ internal memo titled "Preliminary Investigation of Additional Crimes" — marked "Highly Confidential" — states it directly:

"Epstein videotaped encounters, debriefed victims, used Xanax to keep them 'emotionally malleable.'"

The same memo names associates including Barak, Wexner, Dubin, Mitchell, Richardson, Dershowitz, and Prince Andrew.

A separate FBI witness account corroborates:

"Epstein videotaped sex acts on island, at least a dozen young runaway women taken away on a boat and never seen again."

And an attorney representing one victim believes evidence has leaked:

"at least one video circulating on some disgusting sex site. Victim was videotaped at a hotel with 6 men, forced to have sex with 3."

The FBI itself drew the parallel explicitly. In an internal report, an agent noted that Frank Moyle Creer "collected information on members of Sanctum for the purpose of blackmail, similar to JEFFREY EPSTEIN" (EFTA00129096).

The 2025 FBI Director's Reviewlink

In March 2025, FBI Director Kash Patel requested a review of all video evidence seized from Epstein. The SDNY AUSA responded:

"No cameras found inside any bedrooms or living areas of either residence" during the 2019 searches. Surveillance cameras were "located near the entrances of the residences" and "only retained video for a limited period of days."

The FBI reported seizing "a large number of CDs, some hard copy photographs, and at least one videotape containing nude images of females, some of whom appeared to possibly be minors in their late teens." Over one million images and videos were extracted from Epstein's devices by FBI CART. Approximately a dozen photographs containing CSAM were found on one device.

The FBI's conclusion: "We are aware of the theories circulated in the media and online that Epstein video recorded the abuse of his victims, including by other men, but we have found no evidence to support that theory."

But there is a critical gap: the FBI did not seize the 2019 surveillance footage because it was "not responsive to the warrants" — meaning the warrants were scoped to the 1990s–2000s timeframe. The functioning surveillance system's recordings were never taken.

The FBI's Acting ADIC in New York forwarded this response to Deputy Director Bongino after a call with Director Patel. The internal email references "our discussions regarding live sex tapes" and attributes the response to "AUSA Comey" (EFTA00164742).

Part V: 5,507 Images and the Evidence Trovelink

The 2021 Maxwell trial discovery negotiations reveal the scale of what was seized:

• 5,507 electronic images and videos marked "Highly Confidential"
• 7 hard-copy (physical) highly confidential images
• 2,100 additional electronic images recovered during a responsiveness review not completed until November 2020
• Electronic images recovered from CDs from Epstein's residence
• Physical evidence included: massage tables, plaster busts of female torsos, a stuffed dog, framed pictures
• Recordings required: VCR, cassette player, CD player, adapter for micro VHS tape, microcassette player — physical recordings spanning VHS, audio cassettes, CDs, and microcassettes
• Some "Highly Confidential" items contained both nude and non-nude portions
• The FBI did not prepare an inventory when they seized items from NY and Little St. James

The Wiped Devicelink

Of the multiple devices seized, FBI forensic examiners confirmed that device NYC024342 was a wiped drive — zero data recoverable (vol00009-efta00091388-pdf). Someone had erased it completely.

Part VI: The Blackmail Patternlink

The evidence of systematic blackmail extends beyond the physical recordings.

The Trump Party Reference (~1991)link

In one of the earliest emails in the archive, Epstein wrote:

"meet him... remember he is the one who was blackmailed by the girl in p.b., from donald trumps party"

Epstein casually referencing a blackmail event involving a girl at a Donald Trump party in Palm Beach — as background information for a meeting.

Epstein recognized blackmail patterns — because he operated one.

Tape-Recording Suspicious Calls (2006)link

"I received a suspicious call from a girl named Anissa... it was very suspicious.. I told her to call back tomorrow so I could tape record her conversation."

The Kadosh-Brunel Blackmail Scheme (2016)link

Epstein documented being blackmailed himself. In an email to himself titled "kadosh and jean luc blackmail":

"today at approx 504 pm i called michel kadosh to inquire about jean luc... for 3 million dollars jean luc would not go in to speak... he said that after I paid him, we could be friends again... he said I told him why do you want jeffrey in jail"

Jean-Luc Brunel — later arrested for trafficking — and Michel Kadosh demanded $3 million from Epstein. The subject line is "blackmail."

Ghislaine and the "Total Shakedown" (2011)link

Ghislaine Maxwell described another blackmail operation in detail:

"unless you pay GM is in and if you GM is out — TW viewed it as total shakedown and blackmail... 2/3 threatening calls came in then when it was not forthcoming they leaked the story to the press... he sd actually that that blackmailing... should go to jail for the rest of his life for what he did using me to blackmail him."

"TW" is Ted Waitt, the Gateway computer founder. "GM" is Ghislaine Maxwell. "AJ" used Maxwell as leverage: pay up, or she's gone. When the money didn't flow, the story went to the press. Ghislaine told Epstein she had known about the blackmail — but "not before" (EFTA02721930).

The Leon Black Surveillance Operation (2015)link

Perhaps the most explosive new finding. In September 2015, Epstein coordinated an active surveillance operation on behalf of Leon Black through Brad Karp, chairman of Paul, Weiss:

"is she still being surveilled. is she still in london. leon wants to nail down the fact that she is a pro. have nadello use russian contacts."

Karp responded:

"We stopped the surveillance on Friday. She was in London then... We can follow up on the prostitution front."

Epstein also wrote: "leon thinks a case is viable in london, too much riding on that fact." Karp confirmed she "will lose a criminal trial for blackmail." A top Paul, Weiss partner running active surveillance on a woman, using "Russian contacts," to characterize her as a prostitute — all orchestrated by Epstein for Leon Black.

The Gates Blackmail Chain (2013)link

Multiple NUCLEAR-tier dossier documents trace a blackmail operation targeting Bill Gates:

• July 2, 2013: Boris Nikolic was fired by Gates — not resigned. Gates scripted the cover story (EFTA01966401)
• July 17-18, 2013: Epstein drafted blackmail letters through the night — three variants — referencing "sex with russian girls... illicit trysts... adderall fro bridge tournaments" (EFTA01966772, EFTA01967726, EFTA01965732)
• Same day: Boris was at Epstein's house the same day as the blackmail drafts (EFTA02133438)
• Three months earlier: "The 2 Russian girls don't have UK Visas" — before letters referencing "Russian girls" (EFTA02142844)

Epstein workshopping blackmail threats through the night. Three drafts. Referencing material he had arranged months in advance.

The "Heat Map" Intelligence Operationlink

In June 2016, Epstein described his own intelligence capability to Reid Hoffman:

"the heat map some of my guys use to gauge intelligence chatter (heat maps off of social networks) was spot on with regard brexit."

Five days later, he pitched Hoffman:

"we should talk about intelligence for combatting terrorists — software — applied to financial markets."

Epstein wasn't just collecting blackmail material. He was running — or claiming to run — an active intelligence operation using social network surveillance.

Part VII: Counter-Surveillance — Hunting the Hunterslink

The FBI Warninglink

Federal investigators had to plan around Epstein's counter-surveillance capabilities. An FBI investigative file explicitly warned:

"Counter-surveillance should be expected by this subject or other subjects yet unknown."

Removing Computers Before the Search Warrantlink

Federal prosecutor Ann Marie Villafana documented what happened when the state investigation closed in:

"William Riley is the person who removed the computers from Mr. Epstein's house after Epstein or Roy Black somehow found out that a state search warrant was coming... He also was one of the private investigators who investigated the agents and probably me during the investigation."

The prosecutor continued:

"Special Agent [REDACTED] was followed to her home this past weekend"

Epstein's team had advance warning of the search warrant — suspected to have been leaked by a court reporter. William Riley removed the computers. The same Riley was a private investigator who counter-surveilled the federal agents investigating Epstein.

The Sandy Berger Warninglink

The House Oversight Committee's September 2025 letter raises a parallel question: Sandy Berger — Bill Clinton's former National Security Advisor — called Epstein on October 2, 2005, requesting a callback. Berger had flown on Epstein's jet September 24, 2005. Eighteen days after Berger's call, on October 20, 2005, Palm Beach Police executed their search warrant — but described the house as "cleaned up."

Photographing the Investigatorslink

Epstein didn't just flee surveillance — he turned it around:

"this is a private investigator hired to investigate me... keep your eyes out for him... please print out and give to igor janusch and tuella."

Epstein captured an image of the investigator following him and distributed it to his staff as a wanted poster.

Professional Counter-Surveillance Consultantslink

Epstein retained IMG, a professional security firm:

"IMG identifies and helps eliminate potential weaknesses, and consults on installation of security systems and counter-surveillance equipment."

Counter-surveillance was so routine in Epstein's world that associates joked about it. One asked: "Is he your counter surveillance? :)" (EFTA00761413). Epstein himself mocked a target's lack of tradecraft: "he is his own counter surveillance, he can't decide whether the thing following him is his ass or his elbow" (EFTA00890085).

Operational Securitylink

Epstein practiced strict communications discipline:

"I dont trust phones. or one party states or memories based on phone conversations."

When Boris Nikolic warned that his bgC3 (Gates-related) emails were being monitored, Epstein's reply was chilling:

"it was on purpose."

Part VIII: The Intelligence Networklink

"Boles Got to the Mossad Guys Through You"link

In November 2017, Epstein wrote directly to Ehud Barak:

"boles said he got to the mossad guys through you? true?"

David Boies — Epstein's attorney who also ran Black Cube operations for Harvey Weinstein — accessed Mossad operatives through the former Prime Minister of Israel. A direct email from Epstein asking Barak to confirm.

Robert Maxwell's Playbooklink

In March 2018, Epstein emailed himself an article about Robert Maxwell — Ghislaine's father:

"Robert Maxwell threatened Mossad. He told them that unless they gave him 400million to save his crumbling empire, he would expose all he had done for them... He had free access to Margaret Thatcher's Downing Street, to Ronald Reagan's White House, to the Kremlin... Maxwell passed on all the secrets he learned to Mossad in Tel Aviv. In turn, they tolerated his excesses... He told his controllers who they should target and how they should do it."

Epstein was reading about Robert Maxwell's exact playbook: an intelligence asset with access to world leaders, passing secrets, then blackmailing his own handlers. This was in Epstein's files seventeen months before his arrest.

"A CIA Operative Who Worked with Dad"link

In October 2005, Ghislaine Maxwell wrote to Epstein from a wedding:

"was w/a CIA operative who sd that he 'worked' w/Dad! I was so shocked. He sd he could tell, all find all, and reveal all, (for a price)!! Tom knows him and will tell you all about it."

Epstein's reply: "going to island today." He wasn't surprised.

The Intelligo Grouplink

A complete pitch deck from Intelligo Group — a firm of "former Israeli intelligence officers" — was found in Epstein's files:

Advisory board includes "Former head of the Mossad" and "Former head of the Shin Bet" (names redacted). Staff includes people from the Israeli PM's office and IDF intelligence. CEO was a "distinguished combat officer in the IDF."

Intelligo offered HUMINT, OSINT, due diligence, and asset tracing. Epstein was either being pitched by or investing in an Israeli intelligence firm staffed by former Mossad and Shin Bet leadership.

The Maxwell Family Intelligence Softwarelink

Christine Maxwell — Ghislaine's sister — operated Chiliad, a data-mining and intelligence software company. In June 2008, Christine reported to Ghislaine:

"DHS buys Chiliad license! $1.5M was transferred over to our AFRL vehicle... Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) will utilize Chiliad as its core infrastructure to search through [data]."

Ghislaine forwarded the pitch to Epstein and asked if she should buy shares. Epstein said "yes." The Epstein-Maxwell circle was directly invested in a company that served as the Department of Homeland Security's core data search infrastructure — at the exact moment the Epstein-Maxwell trafficking operation was active.

Christine was also soliciting Ghislaine for ISS (Institute for Scientific Simulation) — which held US Navy and DARPA contracts — while fighting to regain control of Chiliad (EFTA00578914). Bank statements for "Steuart Chiliad" in Epstein's document sets show Deutsche Bank accounts with balances ranging from $44K to $1.5M.

The Future CIA Directorlink

Epstein brokered connections between William Burns — then a top US diplomat, later CIA Director — and Silicon Valley billionaires:

"if ok with you I'd like to forward this address to peter thiel and reid hoffman."

Burns: "That would be fine. Many thanks." Two months later, Epstein told Burns about his schedule: "will be in florida for thanksgiving... bill gates in on the 5th" (EFTA02596374). The future CIA Director in Epstein's network, aware of his Gates meetings.

In December 2018, Epstein reached for the incoming Attorney General, emailing Steve Bannon: "do you know bill barr. CIA." (EFTA01014138).

The NSA Questionlink

Epstein discussed NSA surveillance capabilities with Kathy Ruemmler, Obama's former White House Counsel:

"its an interesting question for one of your nsa guys, whether their intercepts can distinguish gender with some degree of regularity."

In March 2019 — four months before his arrest — the same Ruemmler strategized with Epstein about whether Reid Hoffman should make contact with someone "Only for intel gathering purposes" (EFTA02633880).

Epstein as Intelligence Sourcelink

Former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers treated Epstein as an intelligence source:

"How plausible is idea that trump is real cocaine user?"

Three weeks after the 2016 election, Summers provided Epstein with detailed insider-level analysis of every Treasury Secretary candidate (EFTA02669508). Terje Rod-Larsen used Epstein as a conduit to Gates: "Urgent, plz pass on to Bill Gates" — a detailed IPI intelligence report on Pakistan polio worker attacks (EFTA00864113).

The "Honey Trap" Vocabularylink

In October 2018, Epstein's iMessage conversation with Miro Lajcak — then President of the UN General Assembly — about the Khashoggi murder reveals his operational vocabulary:

"Can they label him a terrorist? Covert op gone bad. Honey trap turks? MBZ?"

"Honey trap," "covert op" — this was language Epstein used casually with a sitting UN General Assembly president. Elsewhere in Epstein's files, someone identified his operation explicitly: "Given the interrogation as to the Prince's sexual preferences this is an obvious honeytrap. Epstein and the Israelis did well on this one." (EFTA00092874).

Unit 8200 and the Talpiot Programlink

Dan Dubno, an Epstein advisor, explicitly described Israeli military intelligence capabilities to Epstein — including Unit 8200 (Israel's signals intelligence unit, equivalent to the NSA) and the Talpiot program (Israel's elite military technology program) (EFTA01801302). Les Wexner's relationship weight in the kabasshouse database is 41 — the highest of any Epstein associate. Wexner was described as "Epstein's primary benefactor and business relationship." Barak was paid for book "treatments" through the Wexner Foundation, with payments coordinated by Larry Moses (lmoses@wexner.net) through Epstein's channels.

Epstein managed Wexner's finances, staff, and security. In one email, Epstein warned Wexner about corporate espionage:

The incident was officially classified as "Suicide Attempt — Hanging/Asphyxiation." Tartaglione's role was listed as "Not Known."

Tartaglione's Contraband Phone

Four days before Epstein arrived at MCC, on July 2, 2019, Tartaglione was found in possession of a contraband cell phone in the SHU, with phone numbers in the call history (EFTA00097207). A forbidden device in the most secure housing unit.

The Missing Videolink

Video surveillance from outside Tartaglione and Epstein's cell during the July 23 incident was reported missing. A detailed USAO memo to DOJ headquarters explains the failure:

"USAO-SDNY initially advised the Court that the video did not exist, but later advised the Court that MCC had confirmed that the video was preserved."

"On January 3, 2020, USAO-SDNY obtained a copy of the requested video and found that it did not show the tier outside of Tartaglione and Epstein's cell."

"The FBI is going to be retrieving the previous recordings from our camera system at MCC, but because we were having difficulty retrieving the recordings, they have told us the recording capabilities will be off line for up to 8-10 days while they retrieve this data."

"No correctional officer conducted any count or round of the SHU from approximately 10:30 p.m. on August 9 until approximately 6:30 a.m. on August 10"

"Between 1:05 a.m. and 3:10 a.m., the OIG did not detect any movement at the SHU officer desk area or around the SHU common area. It appeared that the COs were sleeping at the desk area in the SHU."

The Inmates Knewlink

OIG interviews with MCC staff present on August 10 capture what happened at discovery:

"The inmates were saying, 'You killed him. You weren't making rounds. You killed him. You weren't making rounds. You guys got to get a new job.'"

The officer who found Epstein described:

"he knocked on the door, saw Epstein through the window, said 'come to the door, come to the door,' he didn't move, so he went in the cell and saw him hanging from orange strings from a sheet or a shirt from the top portion of the bunkbed with his butt about an inch to an inch and a half off the floor"

Noel's reaction at the scene: "Breathe, Epstein, breathe" and "We're going to be in so much trouble."

Thomas admitted: "we messed up... I messed up, she's not to blame, we didn't do any rounds."

The Last Person to See Epstein Alivelink

A guard brought Epstein back from the shower area around 9:30 PM. Before leaving, he asked Epstein's tier where his cellmate was:

"He recalls putting Epstein back in his cell from the shower area and asking Epstein 'where the hell is your fucking cellmate at?'"

He then called someone — "not sure if it was to a LT, Unit Manager, or someone else." Epstein gave a thumbs up when asked if he was "good." That was the last confirmed interaction.

The Autopsy: Three Fractured Boneslink

The OCME autopsy report — now in the corpus — documents the injuries:

Final Diagnoses:

• Ligature furrow of neck (noncircumferential, 13¾" to 15" long, ⅛" to ½" wide)
• Petechial hemorrhages of bilateral palpebral conjunctivae and oral mucosa
• Confluent hemorrhages of right bulbar conjunctiva
• Fractures of bilateral thyroid cartilage cornuae and left hyoid cornua with accompanying soft tissue hemorrhages

The Anthropology Report specified: "The hyoid bone exhibits a fracture of the left greater horn. The thyroid exhibits two fractures: one to the right superior horn and one to the left superior horn."

Three bone fractures total — both thyroid cartilage horns and the left hyoid. In forensic literature, multiple fractures of the hyoid and thyroid cartilage are more commonly associated with manual strangulation than with suicidal hanging.

Additional injuries: abrasions of the left forearm, cutaneous contusions of both wrists, subcutaneous hemorrhage of the left deltoid muscle.

Cause of death: Hanging. Manner of death: Suicide.

"The FBI Has All the Blackmail Videos"link

The FBI seized 5,507 images/videos, DVDs from a safe, and recordings in multiple physical formats. They extracted over one million images from Epstein's devices. But device NYC024342 was wiped clean. William Riley removed computers before the 2005 search warrant. The house was "cleaned up" before the Palm Beach raid. The FBI never seized the functioning 2019 surveillance footage. And in March 2025, the SDNY told FBI Director Patel they found "no cameras inside any bedrooms" — but acknowledged the warrants were scoped to exclude recent recordings.

"Epstein Was Murdered"link

The BOP's own reconstruction documents extraordinary anomalies: falsified logs, missing video, a broken camera two days before, a single-celled inmate who should have had a cellmate, guards who slept for two hours and browsed the internet for eight, and an FBI that took the recording equipment. The autopsy found three fractured bones — both thyroid cartilage horns and the left hyoid — a pattern more common in strangulation. The last cellmate who could testify about guard behavior died in his sleep fifteen months later. The only witness to the July 23 incident offered corroborating evidence the government "has not previously been disclosed" — and was refused an interview. The official classification is suicide.
