Well then let's definitely get thoughts from all three (Leah, Charlie, Tom)...reputation makes sense. We're not going to be paying well, so I don't know how much that's going to affect things...I was thinking we'd look for someone who is on the younger side--still has something to prove, will be eager, etc--but has real experience and has done this in a legit way. I know that's kind of a unicorn, but we all have to dream!
How much do these firms typically cost? Do you think someone would be willing to handle this as a charity case?
Also, do you think Brynne would be available in Nov/Dec to help with some operational stuff while we're still waiting for a COO? She did such a fantastic job on Terry's inauguration, I know she could handle this stuff, but I'm not sure what HRC's plans are for her.

i think both can do it - leah we tried to get to be the coo at usaid -- a $25B organization -- we couldn't capture her though. She also was the coo at dept of labor (12.1B organization) - so like tom who has done this -- she too managed a complex organization. charlie too and he comes with political acumen too.excellent coos tend to be known so usually you don't need a headhunter though it doesn't hurt other than your pocketbook.they are like hr people - they have reputations that transcend the industry they are in. one of the best hr person, for example is at the lending club - and she likely won't budge (she was recruited out of schwab).happy to connect you with good folks at each of the major search firms -- i just don't know if in the end they'll capture the person we want but if we pay them on some portion being contingent on success, we won't be out the full amount (actually where were when we did the search for the clinton foundation head).doesn't matter, it's just about pitching what is affordable and seing what they say.cdmOn Wed, Oct 8, 2014 at 7:38 PM, Robby Mook <robby@terrymcauliffe.com> wrote:That would be great.
My goal is to find someone from outside politics with experience in mid- to large startups which is why I'd prefer to find a corporate headhunting firm to identify options.
I'm happy to get ideas from Leah and Charlie but I assume they will be political/convention types and my preference is to get outside that mold. Or are you saying they will know of firms? Either way more options the better--I just want to stay true to the goal.
I really want to up our game on HR, budgeting, and procurement which was a problem in 08 and 12 (and is always a problem!).
