$180 million in outside spending so far

![]() |
Dear Friend,
$180 million.
That’s how much outside groups have spent on this year’s elections. One hundred eighty million dollars would be enough to pay off Colorado’s average $24,540 student loan debt for 7,334 graduates. Instead, that money’s been used to try to buy Congress.
Citizens United unleashed this money on our democracy. We’re fighting to fix it, and we could use your support -- can you pitch in $5 to help us reach our $35,000 goal for September?
If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:
We should reiterate that $180 million is only the price tag so far. The heart of campaign season is still in front of us, and spending will only accelerate as election day draws closer.
Here in Colorado, some of that $180 million is being used to blanket TV and radio with attack ads. That’s silencing the voices of American families and diverting the dialogue to an agenda focused on special interests, not the needs of the middle class.
Citizens United has to be rolled back. We need your support -- both in Congress and on our grassroots team -- to make that happen. Can you spare $5 to help?
Thank you.![]()
