Good morning, Sir,

Dulce called two nights ago begging me to call her doctor to get her more pain medicine. I believe she is in pain. I also fear she is becoming dependent on the pain medication her doctors keep feeding her.

Although Dulce is the most valuable among the housekeeping staff to us, these issues are beginning to weigh against her contribution. I believe it may be best for us and for Dulce to retire her. We will definitely feel her absence. Since she has been with you for 18 years, so I suspect you would have input on how we go about this.

According to the information I already sent you and Rich, the cost of a single knee surgery in Florida, including 6 weeks of rehabilitation here, would be about $40K.. This is too much. Would you consider retiring her with 25-50% of that amount? This would be advantageous in the following ways:

• Her release would move us one step closer to making your desired transitions in housekeeping.

• We would be absolved from considering any future medical expenses or loss of time from work for Dulce.

• She would depart on good terms.

• She will have the resources to go back to the DR where her family/support system is so she can get the surgery and medical care that she needs.

Thank you,

She would prefer to go to DR than PR because she will need help after surgery and her family is there.

In order to get an estimate of cost elsewhere, the doctor requires an opportunity to evaluate her.

She believes she can get it done in the DR for half of what it will cost here, but we cannot know for sure without the evaluation of the doctor there.

Shall I schedule her an appt w Doctor in DR?

Good morning, Sir,

Dulce has an appointment in the DR for Thursday (03/07).

Option A

I will ask Daphne to book her flight and will request the $1500 you said to send with Dulce. Dulce has asked that we not yet book her return flight as she may need to stay for other appointments such as an MRI or x-rays. I advised she take her medical records with her. With this route, I'm not certain how long she'll be gone or if she'll be back before surgery.

Option B

We will still book her flight. If you already have a predetermined amount in mind, re: severance, I can release her tomorrow. This way she can clean out her locker, will be off payroll, will have her severance, and will have no need to rush back. If this is your preference, please reply with the amount so we can get that prepared. Otherwise, I'll go with Option A.

We released Dulce a few weeks ago. She received the $5K less taxes plus payment for the vacation and sick days she had accrued. Per your suggestion she was instructed to send more information about her knee surgery once she had it.

The documents are attached. Depending on the exchange rate, the total cost of a single knee replacement in the Dominican Republic is projected to be between $5,500 - $6,000.

Please advise if you would like to assist Dulce with any further funds, and if so, the amount.
