Dear Mr.
Weinberg: My name is Zach Helfand. I work in the fact-checking department at The New Yorker magazine. I'm checking a piece by Connie Bruck on Alan Dershowitz, in which your client Jeffrey Epstein is mentioned at some length. I'd like the opportunity to verify the details in the piece with Mr. Epstein. Would it be possible to arrange a fact-checking call? Thanks, Zach HelfandThe New York0

Thanks, Marty. Our policy is to conduct fact-checking over the phone, whenever possible. Would you be available for a phone call?
Zach, I am perfectly willing to assist The New Yorker in checking their "facts" before publishing potentially erroneous information about Mr Epstein, but only when the information you want reviewed is presented in writing. I do not understand why that would not improve the verification process, eliminating multiple calls, and provide more precision. So I understand your preference, but please respect mine. The goal is objectivity and accuracy which a written exchange will promote. Thanks, Marty Weinberg

im in paris . do we respond to all , do we tel them that these are one sided allegagtions and under my npa i was not allowed to challenge them ?
We don't have to respond to any of them. And can select which facts we confirm. The restrictions of the NPA is probably a good thing to remind the writer about. At this point, it's in editing, but that doesn't mean it can't be amended. We should include it in the answers, with a note that the presumptions are pervasive -- without getting into cases.
I was thinking tomorrow AM (Eastern time) if we wanted to do a call when it's not so late for you.
Remarkable they sent it -- what are you thoughts on how to work through it? Phone call?
