I am hoping you and Black will take action regarding your past donations. What Lindy Elkins-Tantan has done is basically erase any evidence that the Origins Project existed at ASU over a decade and the resources developed for that program, from donations by people like you, have now been erased. With the web page completely erased, the Origins educational Portal is gone.. The links to articles and videos developed by Origins is gone.. Indeed all the resources on which had been created by scores of scientists, and were being made available to teachers and students as well as members of the general public, are gone. It is as if the entire 10 year history of the Origins project and its contributions never existed. I find it shameful, and essentially violates the university's commitment to knowledge and education. And the Origins Postdoctoral Prize Lectureship, which you funded, and which we awarded in Feb of this year is now being given, but the name is gone.. It is part of the Interplanetary Initiative, a program she had been running and which had been loping along for the past few years.. It is unfair to all those who contributed resources to Origins to have their work just disappear, and donors who contributed because they liked the vision and liked what was being produced should not have their funds usurped for something they never intended to support. As the major donors to Origins I think you have a right not only to talk about how your future funds are used, but also your past funds, and request that the resources developed using your past funds not be made to disappear.

I certainly understand that.. and I have been wrestling with that concern myself. I think that is a reasonable course of action for you. On the other hand, I had also thought that indignation from donors about what has been going on might spur the President and Provost to realize that an equitable treatment of me and my contributions to ASU might help appease donors and members of the general public.. and might encourage them to make a better deal.. It could go either way I guess. I have decided for the moment not to press this issue publicly as much as I might, though I am drafting something that I may send to Lindy with my concerns, which I think may be appropriate.
