Story's grandfather
Story Close Redfield of West Palm Beach died on August 9, 2013, at the age of 85. Born on January 12, 1928, in New York City, he was the son of Oliver and Elizabeth Redfield. He graduated from Groton School in 1946 and earned a degree in industrial engineering from Yale University in 1950, where he was part of the 1950 national champion rowing team. After serving in the U.S. Navy Reserve, he worked as a securities analyst. He won state bicycling championships and three U.S. Masters national rowing championships. He was a member of the Bath & Tennis Club, Everglades Club, and Biltmore Forest Country Club of Asheville. He is survived by his wife, Jane Oelsner Redfield; four daughters, Nicole Fanjul, Marjorie Moore, Katrina Morgan, and Eva Gourley; a son, Randall Redfield; a son-in-law, William Atterbury; and 12 grandchildren. His son Dwight Redfield predeceased him. A memorial gathering will be held at a future date. Funeral arrangements were handled by Northwood Funeral Home and Crematory.
