The following are a summary of my discussion with my contact regarding Venezuela.
He spoke to chavez today ,he advises that I should travel to cuba in October after chavez speech in the united nations.
My first meeting
"The end game should be , trying to operate all the ports for both countries. IT will take some time. you should personally concentrate on cuba.
you need an overall latin america/cuba strategy.
no problem getting a meeting with Chavez, but now is not the right time. collect your political risk insurance if you have any, and approach it like business, they are concerned that you guys feel upset. they will need to defend their indefensible position. the heat has to dissipate.. 3.5 weeks/ my guess"
Second meeting
the leverage points are cuba and columbia,
we have to decide how he gets to know the real you . much of what he says is for public consumption.
I think your skill in transforming dubai , should be touted in cuba, its location is the best, no shortage of land, stress how your people have prospered. you should have the cubans convince the Venezuelan to come to dubai to see for themselves.
It is difficult at the moment for chavez to accept a partner of columbia. we should speak,
I would suggest , the meeting with uribe, would depend on its reason.. chavez is very emotional„ he could decide , like a jealous girl , that he wants , to be your partner , instead of uribe.. so his jealousy , might work for you, . however if it were only social„ he would think you are the friends of his enemy
