I am sorry that Dershowitz is angry with me , He has presented many claims that are obviously incorrect . The attached being a prime example. You will find the exact two bills that you said Dershowitz categorically said , " never happened". he billed 3 to five times more than anyone else for this one trip alone . This type of obvious misstatement causes me great concern. In addition I have reviewed my files, again contrary to what he has represented there is NO letter showing 67 hours for 09. . certainly no backup, to that number , as i said there is one as of April for 23 hrs. As he is your friend you have decided to accept his claimed hours , no matter what the corresponding e mail traffic illustrates. I have asked for back up for months now for the 178,000 payment , nov 06 and dec , I am ignored and told that they have spent a great deal of time accumulating all the info. , but never received any , not one scrap of paper on this issue , why? as there are only 14 e mails for the month. your projections in Nov 06 , said that Alan was ill, and then leaving for Europe , so I expected a small bill. He has not provided me with one piece of useful backup. the three pages I sent you of a small book with illegible scribbles. was the only pages , again contrary to his representation we have received to date as a detailed backup. I checked and again contrary to what you told me he said , we only received these three pages I have enclosed the fax heading and . That being said , no one in the office can make heads nor tails of it. It did not even come with a summary or explanation. Every other attorney provided detailed bills usually the next day upon request, items and issues discussed, matters handled ,time spent. With the proposition that it would be unethical to reduce his fees because a criminal matter should not be contingent, I point out that the others merely adjusted their billed hours , no one had a contingency agreement of any type, and if you like I can check with the ethics committee of the bar on a no names basis, if it is proper for a criminal lawyer to adjust his bill. . You are simply being asked to accept his number of hours because you are friends, not because of requested documentation for over three million dollars. My job as your accountant is to verify bills. You can readily see that Florida alone , only two days. was already a thirty thousand dollar Dershowitz mistake . I realize that you are made to feel as you are questioning his integrity by asking him to provide what others have done and with little squabble. That is your prerogative. He has referenced " my numbers" , however I only have what he has given me, and it is far in excess of every other bill. If I can answer any other questions . please remember I will be out for the rest of the week.

On nov 21 2007,the day before Thanksginig, I cancelled a major family get together to travel to Fla for you. I left home, accrding to my calender at Sam and did not get back until after 10 pm. I do not think a fee of $25500 is unreasonable for such a disruptive trip. It is what I would charge any other client. If there was an objection, it could have been raised at the time. I believe you would have agreed it was reasonable at the time. My wife confirms that she and I told Beller several times that we could not a bill for Jan 2007 and he should look for his copy. No matter how many times Beller asked for this bill, we don't have it as we made clear from his first request. I think it is also in writing and I'm looking for it.

This is the bill that you said never happened, - time billed for a day, always has a max especially at out of town rates. ,As you know I never looked at your bills, nor questioned them. If you decided to charge a premium for a disruptive trip or disruptive day it would be a new concept . Here is a non holiday bill.

I did not charge a "premium". I simply charged for every hour I was away from my family. Until you mentioned it, I never heard of any 8 hour limitation for out of town trips.I will be happy to check this with billing partners at law firms.
