I am sending a global email to everyone to update you on my status:
On Thursday, February 4th, my wife (Jan) and I were involved in an accident in St. Petersburg, FL. which resulted in her tragic death. We were on a Harley Davidson Tri-Glide (3 wheel) motorcycle when the rear left tire came off resulting in an accident. Jan died on the scene and suffered no pain. Basically the right side of my body (right knee, hip and shoulder) were irkjured. My right LCL was torn loose from the knee along with some bone mass. A couple of screws, etc., and it is back in place. Either the tendons or whatever holds our butt together were stretched and the nerve endings in my back/butt are somewhat exposed causing some discomfort. This will heal. My right shoulder was ripped from the socket and they put in back in place in the ER room. In about 2 -3 months I'll have it surgically repaired (rotator cuff, etc.)

I'm in a wheelchair for at least 3 months with initial PT scheduled on the knee sometime in 2 months or so.
I was in the hospital for 8 days and on this past Friday was released where I'll be staying with my daughter, Kim, and her family for the foreseeable future.
My two kids, Kim and Danny, along with several great friends have rallied around me and provided for an outstanding support group for me.
Jan and I were married for 37 years. She was (and still is) my best friend, lover, wife and companion. I will struggle to regain my confidence but knowing my kids, grandchildren, friends and Jan are there for me will get me through.
I never realized what power the words "I love you" meant until I met her. I have been humbled by this most magnificent person who taught me how to love and laugh.
We have plans to develop a memorial website so my grandchildren will know one day who Jan was and to have a memorial for her at a future date. Right now my priorities will be to welcome (within days) my newest grandchild into this world. Once this happens and everyone is healthy we'll make plans.

My partner, Steve Kiraly, of 26 years has been solid by my side. He'll handle any work that needs to be done. His cell is 786.586.4613.

I appreciate your thoughts. Physically I'll heal and I'm working hard on my "head" issues. She was my best friend before I married her and she'll still be my best friend as I move along in my journey.
