You around for a bit or headed out soon? Sorry, been running with kids and packing now. Should be done shortly.

Love to do face to face, but I'm planning to just come in and out the same day for just one meeting I couldn't move. Almost done packing. We can talk today, and do the rest face to face if need be. What time you headed out?

Sorry I lost you, plane took off. Obviously the conversation was degrading anyway, so let me ponder things and do some research. I did something out of kindness and respect for you that I felt was more than generous. You also felt it was more than generous when I first told you. Obviously, you find it distasteful now so I'm not sure what to do. Just to restate to make sure I'm clear what I think I heard, I think there's three or 4 options or some combination of the following:

  1. A gift. Apparently you find this distasteful now, I researched all the options and found it to be the single most straightforward and efficient mechanism.

  2. On going support. You initially told me you didn't want this, now you are saying you do. Don't understand the difference between a one time gift and a monthly gift, but now I hear you saying you'd prefer a monthly stipend of some sort vs a one time gift? Happy to look at that instead of a one time gift. Maybe it's just easier.

  3. A loan. Not sure it would hold up under an audit, and subject to some form of gift tax as well. Let me do some research here.

  4. Investment in a business. Let me check this out too. Assume the business would then pay you a salary of some sort?

I'd researched all these options, and felt a straight gift was the best way. I'm happy to just pay monthly, as I'd asked if that before if that was what you wanted. You originally told me no, but understand you'd changed your mind. Maybe I could convert some to a loan, but as to something like a $20mm loan, that's not gonna happen.

I'm happy to look at options that work better for you now that you've had time to think about it, but I'm not gonna negotiate here. I tried to do something nice but if you feel better with nothing, happy to do that too.
