I passed this along to some people investing in this space. I also passed it along to a friend of mine that designed the original Tesla car battery system.
(personally I'm not a fan of leading with a gimmick when it comes to technology. I know their story is an important one, it just always feels like when a singer comes on stage with a poodle. I want to hear you sing, I don't want to watch a poodle. That said, I didn't see anything about security, and this will be the most expensive device this target market will come into contact with.)

Zolair Energy is a startup founded last year by Palestinian Sari Taha and his Israeli partner Mark Rabin when they were studying for their MBA at Technion University. Their first proposed product is the Pila-1 (see attached spec sheets), a hybrid (ie both Solar and Zinc powered) off-grid energy system designed to provide 7x24 electricity for populations who are not served by reliable electrical infrastructure (eg most of South Africa, Namibia, et al).
