I could not agree more with both of you. Take for instance these gravitation waves. LIGO has made a subatomic measurement of a collapsed wave function of a multi particle system so the QM observation problem applies. In addition they have made a bald assumption that gravitation waves in 4-D spacetime travel at the speed of light. They can't even visualize waves in 4-D spacetime let alone know their velocity. In point of fact they can speak with zero certainty about these gravitation waves and yet the mainstream scientific media will continue to assert that gravitation waves have been discovered. Physicists actually know nothing about the fundamental workings of the universe and yet we are constantly bombarded with their claims that they know everything. The dark matter and the dark energy issue is another example of this.

Elaborating further to what Vinod is saying, information, thoughts and feelings represent biological experiences of consciousness and not the consciousness itself. A close but not exact analogy would be that a radio produces sounds of different frequencies not the music or lyrics that are generated by conscious beings - composer and lyricist. There has been a growing trend in Western neuro science and metaphysics that consciousness and information thoughts) are synonym. As such, wherever, scientists look information ( thoughts), they misinterpret it as consciousness. As per Vedic Upnishadic philosophy, consciousness is that which ultimately perceives all information 9 thoughts) and, as such, different than consciousness. Secondly, it is due to consciousness that information (thoughts) are produces. As such, consciousness serves twin purposes :
i) It is due to it that information ( thoughts° are produced in unconscious brain and mind
ii) It ultimately perceives all information.
consciousness can't take birth either within or from out of microtubules in brain as some quantum stuff since consciousness assumes a unified whole status. A 'unified whole", unchanging, immutable entity can't emerge out from identities having distinct status. Further, micro tubulars in brain and resulting quantum gravity information per se are unconscious. How can they give birth to consciousness.

American Dr Stuart Hameroff and British physicist Sir Roger Penrose developed a quantum theory of consciousness asserting that our souls are contained inside structures called microtubules which live within our brain cells. 'If the patient is resuscitated, revived, this quantum information can go back into the microtubules and the patient says "I had a near death experience".'

In the event of the patient's death, it was "possible that this quantum information can exist outside the body indefinitely - as a soul".
Dr Hameroff believes new findings about the role quantum physics plays in biological processes, such as the navigation of birds, adds weight to the theory.

Please pay attention here folks. This person actually knows what she/he is taking about. A mind is a psychic pattern through which you interpret and form reality. You have a physical brain you can see. You have a mind that is invisible. The brain's genius comes from the mind, which can be called the brain's biophysical counterpart. The brain communicates via transduction with the non-physical mind. You experience yourself -topside : )
The brain structure is plastic, and is determined by DNA. What determines the activation of the various DNA codes, depends on the beliefs and desires of the individual. (as I see it)
The brain is an event forming psycho-mechanism through which consciousness operates. Its propensity for event-forming is obvious even in young children. By obvious, I mean active, when fantasies in the mind occur, involving activities far beyond the physical abilities as they are thus far developed, such as walking.
Children's dreams, which occur in the mind, are more intense than those of adults because the brain is practicing its event-forming activities.
