It is a bit difficult to "find" the various portfolios, but from the link above you will be taken to a page that scrolls horizontally (move your cursor over the right hand side of the page and it should start to move). The various portfolios are accessed by clicking in the lower left hand corner of the larger images, the smaller ones can be clicked open and they have information. If you have any question just let me know. If you are interested in a price, we need to know the size of the artwork, if there is a particular theme, and the medium (oil mural, sculpture, etc.).

It looks like there are 3 panels -- is that right? Are you looking for a particular theme (landscape, religious scene, etc.) or should Kurt make a suggestion? It is helpful to know something about the owner or their interests to make the best suggestion possible for the panels.

Knowing the theme will determine the complexity and then I can send you the cost.

Dear Karyna,

I would propose a series of three murals based on the theme of Apollo & the Muses on Mount Parnassus, as it contains themes the client is interested in. Below is a short description from Wikipedia:

Mount Parnassus is sacred to to Apollo and the home of the Muses. Apollo has been variously recognized as a god of music, poetry, truth and prophecy, healing, the sun and light The Muses are the goddesses of the inspiration of literature, science, and the arts. They were considered the source of the knowledge, related orally for centuries in the ancient culture, which was contained in poetic lyrics and myths.

I think the compositional design would work well with the classical/ Doric feeling of the architectural space. It is a subject that I have worked with before, and know that a large scale series of paintings would be uniquely impressive. The figures would be life-sized and the richly detailed landscape image would rise out of the clouds.

Can you please check on the size of each of the three canvas surfaces for me. Judging by the railing height they appear to be about 12 feet X 16 feet each, which is not as large as the size called out in the email. Having the correct size is essential for estimating the price.

Thank you very much for your proposal! The owner would like to see a rough sketch if possible to get a better idea.

In terms of the size: you are right, each panel frame is 12x16 feet. The owner's idea is to have the art done through all the 3 walls uninterrupted, unlike the current separate pictures. He also wants to do it from the floor level all the way up. The size would be 40x20 feet for each wall that way. Hope this helps.

Dear Karyna,

Based on 3 panels, each 20' x 40' oil paint on canvas, the cost of the artwork comes to $700,000. Before moving any further we should know if we are still within your budget. If you look at Kurt's oil paintings on his website you will see they are finely detailed and made to last for generations. Kurt has painted many images this size and larger, so the scope of the project is well within his abilities. If you are interested in moving forward we would need to have the blueprints in order to have accurate measurements to work from, know which molding (if any) is staying, lighting, etc. For projects on this scale it is beneficial to have Kurt do a site visit prior to starting the design work. The project fee includes Kurt creating the compositional design. I can send you samples of these if you have not already seen them on the website. Any needed changes are made at this stage. Kurt normally has a conversation with the client or project manager prior to creating the compositional design as it is our goal that there are very few, if any changes at this stage. Once the designs are approved, Kurt starts the final artwork. I am happy to have a conversation about the process on the phone with you. If the client is not sure they want to commit to the project I can get a quote from Kurt for the design work. Kurt does not create sketches, only fully rendered tonal images.
