Dear Mr. lndyke,

Here is my list of updated "excuses".

As I told you yesterday I have been unable to talk to anyone at the National Museum all week. I was able to talk to the permit officer yesterday, again at home and she said that the city has been shut down by a Power workers strike and the dam that supplies water to the capital has been shut down by the land owners. Therefore no government offices have been open this week. Please see the article in the on-line edition of the newspaper. http://www.postcourier.com.pg/20120622/frhome.htm I am sure if you go through the earlier editions you can find more. I asked the permit officer Grace Guise if I could give you her phone number and she said she couldn't make that decision without Andrew Moutu, the Museum's director's permission. I have been calling his cell phone all week also and it is not working. It goes straight to voice mail and then cuts off before a message can be left.

I was able to get my brother and his wife to take pictures of the boxes and pick up the quote for air shipment. I attach pictures of the packed crates, Air Niugini quote for their shipment to Miami (it has taken two weeks to get the quote), my request for permit email to the Museum. I also attach a picture of another long crate with two shields for National Geographic in Washington DC that is also waiting on a permit.

I know this is difficult to understand how slow things move in PNG and if the economy here had been better I would have been able to go back to PNG to walk it through the permit process which involves begging and pleading and favors and gifts. My brother, who has been helping me from Wewak, refuses to deal in "gifts".

I apologize for the delay. I am doing what I can to get this done.
