We picked up the little campers this morning around 11 am. They had an AWESOME time! Loved everything about camp. And, it was very nice that they were all smiles to see us.
I am currently having fun with a MOUNTAIN of laundry. It's fine... glad they had fun. AND I admit, the 2 weeks went very, very fast! BUT glad to have them back too.
So, we picked up Cassidy first. ... she ran out and jumped on me with a HUGE hug going on and on about winning the art contest. ... I had to slow her down. BUT when I understood what she was saying it was SO AMAZING!!
Cassidy won the FIRST PRIZE in the art competition. The art competition was judged by two professional artists (one a "gallery artist" and the other a "sculpture"). Out of the ENTIRE camp (of all ages - 9 - 16) She won the entire thing! Which is ONE WEEK FREE of caminext year! WOW! That is $1500. in face value!! AMAZING!! She was so proud and of course, proud of her!! [ ] The art Director made sure to reinforce that part of the reason her sculpture won (which, the art competition was open to ALL art elements -- not just sculpture) was because of her "artist's description" she submitted with it.
Hers was a sculptured balloon (there is actually a photo of her holding it in the "favorites" that you all viewed). She wrote a very beautiful description talking about how the balloon represented being able to float away on grand adventures -- and that everyone may think about her "balloon of fate" differently. I am going to frame her award, the comments from the judges and get a special viewing "box" for the sculpture itself for her room. She was so excited!
Braden received accolades for his archery abilities as well! Two different certificates, which I will frame also if I unearth them -- so far, that has not happened. Hopefully they are buried in his dirty laundry in okay condition.
