the direct flight from Rome to NY on 28th is expensive...I am seeing $1611...Travelocity has the return flight on Feb. 4th on Norwegian Air Shuttle#7016 depart 10:30pm-arrive 10am Feb. 5th for $281.99 one way...

soon, I've been thinking on this....this ticket you found has returning on the 5th back to Rome (when she needs to go back to London on the 4th for school) We could book this below ticket (for $538.36) then after her departure on 28th cancel the return part of her ticket and purchase the Norwegian Air Shuttle flight NY to London on 4th for 5281.99 (although price could change by Jan. 29th...) We can't purchase the REAL return until after she has departed on the 28th because the airlines could possibly cancel one or both return flights if we book before her departure. The round trip ticket (Rome/NY/Rome) at $538.36 is much lower than trying to book her through to London for thousands. I have spoken with my Amex rep and she thinks all this would work. She also says she can make me an itinerary to show a ticket for Rome/London on Jan. 28th (which is requesting) What do you think?!
