RE: An issue

Hi MI— The First Assistant U.S. Attorney is nervous about our Office picking the attorney to represent the girls (of course they tell me this now). He is concerned about what it means for conflicts in the future. So, they want a "special master" to pick the attorney — of course, we will be picking the special master, so what is the difference? And we will be submitting the possible attorneys to the special master, too.

Anyhow, Jay hasn't called me yet to discuss this issue. He may not want to do the special master thing, because it means disclosing all of this to the master and to several other firms to run conflicts checks, etc. I will talk to him tomorrow morning and try to get this figured out. Let's keep our noon time for a call either way.

Hi --I haven't forgotten about you and I thank you for your patience. Defense counsel is just using this special master issue as a reason to try to renegotiate the contract and they have brought Guy Lewis back on board, which is also slowing things down. As soon as I know something, I will let you know.
