My name is Elle Reeve and I'm a fact-checker with the news website The Daily Beast. We're running an article stating that the FBI has re-opened an investigation into Jeffrey Epstein, that the investigation has been widened to include Epstein's associate Jean Luc Brunel plus Brunel's modelling agency, and that investigators are looking for evidence of child trafficking. Would you be able to give us an official response to these claims?

Thank you for your email. The USAO cannot comment. It is against DOJ and USAO Guidelines to either confirm or deny the existence of any investigation. Thank you for checking with me.

BTW, we are not investigating Jean Luc Brunel as far as I know. I bet this is based on Conchita Sarnoff, a reporter who has emailed us (mostly headquarters) about Brunel. We could not substantiate any of her claims. Thanks.

I know. I was going to say that it is amazing that the Daily Beast is telling us who to investigate. I think their source is their reporter!
