I appreciate your work and effort.,, Darren and frankly the new people on board, are not questioning the topography they are questioning the fact that the land is only 45 feet wide , with cliffs at both ends, not whether we can move dirt. I don't want you to be upset, the result of the survey that you suggest, when I said that, THe response was they have been designing this point for about a year,Do you mean without a survey?). , Miles with a tape measure , could conclusively tell in 10 minutes the distance from cliff edge to cliff edge.. I have not seen the drawing , but doesn't it include the height of land on which it should be built? I was told it said 25 feet . CAll me I also approved the guermantes notary moving forward. With regard the office plan, Doug (my doug) , j;ust told me, ( I just hung up) that he is coming down here, because it seems the office has to be redesigned from "SCRATCH" , as jp's office was simply trying to fit the old plan on a site that can't support it. Now it's my turn Frustrating isn't it. you and I should speak

I have taken a few hours to calm down before I email you back.

First I want to thank you for forwarding me this email as is. It allows me to explain to you how undocumented, unfair and malicious it actually is on all the issues it addresses:

-What "screw up after screw up" is he talking about? I don't think that Darren understands the evolution of a project: I spoke with Doug Schoettle two days ago, and we were discussing how a project always goes back and forth, and how, likewise, the office project went back to our original concept (balconies and terraces on the ocean front, for example).

-The yellow tape mark was put on site by Miles following our decision prior to our meeting in Paris. The building was smaller and that mark is consistent with the plans at that time, which fitted the site. After that, at your request we added balconies on the west and north sides of the building, which went from 42ft to 50ft wide, hence the difference.

-Adding those balconies created an issue on the edge of the building, this is true: we were very much aware of it, and there was actually a discussion about this between Doug and Charles. The position of the office wasn't modified then because we were waiting for the results of this very survey to be able to move it to the best possible spot, more precisely than on the plan.
In addition, we shouldn't have to entirely design this project around the topography of this area, which can be modified.
In any case, I find this comment unacceptable from someone who obviously didn’t even consider that the balconies can be cantilevered.

-Which “height is wrong”? There never was a height provided to the surveyor, so how could it be wrong? Wrong according to what?

We are very proud of all the buildings that we have designed in the past. We are as proud of them as our clients are, and there was never any question about the professionalism of our staff in New York and Paris. After "hundreds of thousands of dollars" paid and an enormous amount of hours dedicated in Paris and New York, developing all the projects on the island, and constantly making all the changes that you and I are making after our meetings, I find unacceptable for someone to question our efforts and dedication to you and these projects. I think that to be "amateurish" would be to, as other people do, just blindly follow whatever ideas you would have without developing them, improving them, and exploring all options. We are all fully dedicated to the success of all the projects at Little Saint James.

I am still outraged and disappointed by how someone can be so two-faced and cynical, only two weeks after they told me how great the projects were, and how happy and excited everyone was.

I am confident that this will answer all the understandable doubts Darren's email might have given to you, and I hope that your in-house counselor will change his views in light of these facts.

Let's talk this week-end before I go to Moscow.
