Dearest Jeffrey,
I'm working for a normal, organized investment bank and I've started dating a normal guy. He's my age and a management consultant from Croatia. Normal life is underrated. I might feel borderline happy  :)

My diary for this week:

As I'm driving on Sheikh Zayed Road with walls covered with purple, neon-palm trees and green, neon triangles; and you can see the Fairmont Hotel lit up in changing colors, you just gotta love Dubai! We are tacky and we make no excuses for it!

MAC Capital
First day at work and my coworker is showing me the filing system. Amongst a thousand files she randomly pulls out a file on my ex's father...

There are some things in life you shouldn't bother fighting. This is one of them. I want my ex out of my life so I can move on. He wants to stay friends. He's not trying very hard, but somehow he just remains in my life. As pathetic as he may be, I'm glad he's around.

I feel strong and empowered! New job, starting with new people. EVERYTHING I've achieved in Dubai, I've done on my own. I managed to get all four jobs on my own and never through anyone else's connections. I pay my own bills. I do as I please.

Normal guys
Dating a normal guy ROCKS! It's INFINITELY better than dating a rich, CHEAPASS (I'm talking someone who asks you to pick up the bill for him and his friend...), selfish jerk.

A rich person who is financially cheap, also has a cheap personality.

What touches me with the normal guy I'm trying to date, is that he was there in my weakest moment: after the car accident. I was in shock and more "Cecilia" than usual. He called me every few hours to check up on me and forced me to see a doctor.

I've been suffering from bronchitis since we started dating and he's very caring.

He's the kind of man you want to find and now that I have, I think I'll have to work hard on being capable of having a normal relationship. We're going grocery shopping together for crying out loud!

Growing up
After a rocky year in Dubai (4 jobs and 1 shady boyfriend), I'm hoping to finally have some peace at a normal investment bank (40 employees, organized, Australian) instead of some crazy Arabic startup run by Lebanese who shoots from the hip; and dating a normal guy who has respect for himself and people around him.

Arabs and warning lights
When driving home I saw several SUVs with the UAE flag and the warning blinkers on. What does that mean??? They won a game? They managed to survive Sheikh Zayed Road? People here use the warning lights more than anywhere else. During the floods, they urged people via radio not to use the warning lights. It's bad enough that Dubai is lit up like a christmas tree, I suppose.

Survived 1st week at MAC Capital:
I'm very happy there! Been working like a dog this week. I'm in investment banking, but we also have brokerage. We're running between the two offices chitchatting. What happened to the Chinese Wall???

Still suffering from bronchitis and very badly now. My lungs are killing me after all the coughing. Went to pharmacy since they have some good stuff here. Hopefully it'll help.

Girls' dinner
The Lesbian, the Housewife, the Syrian and the Swede. Talked about politics in the Middle East.  Well, I have bronchitis, so I was mostly quiet.

Stay well and healthy. Enjoy life. Follow your instincts. Keep good people around you.
