Hi, Jeffrey. I am glad that we had a chance to talk last Friday. Spirited and informative as always.

 

You asked about ideas with reference to education going forward. With the snail mail version of this note, I am enclosing Dave Perkins’ informal essay on ‘the relevance gap’—or why trigonometry is less important than probability, and why knowing how to learn and wanting to learn are king.  I also enclose the little essay I wrote on the three systems of education in the US and how they are ‘wanting’  different things. You might also refer your friends on the Virgin Island to my Five Minds for the Future and, as a contrast case, Daniel Pink’s A Whole new Mind.
