Subject: THE EMERGENT SPATIO-TEMPORAL BRAIN DYNAMICS OF LEARNING
Dear
Jeffrey,
Attached please find the research proposal, as promised. This is an "ideal
world" proposal, subject to modifications if necessary. Some of the
"fat" can be avoided if a way can be found to give direct grants to
participants. This would remove both the 30% fringe and the
10% institutional overhead from a significant portion of the
budget. In principle, this is possible for the four principals' salaries.
I explored this route at some length, but was told that it may be
difficult for Lau and Thesen because of the nature of their visas. The other
components of the budget (post-doctoral fellows/graduate students and
experiment-related expenses) have to be channelled through the university.
I look forward to your feedback and will be glad to discuss this with you
further at your convenience.
Best wishes,
Nick
