Do you wish Forums, LLC to give its consent?

To: Cecile DeJongh ceciled@ftcvi.comDear Cecile,
To follow up our conversation of yesterday, we are
requesting a letter which
consents to our use of "The Forum, Inc." as the
name of our non-profit
corporation. Our recently filed articles of
incorporation have been returned
to us as deficient by the Office of the Lt. Governor
which deemed that our
intended corporate name may cause confusion with an
existing registration, in
this case "Forums, LLC". We may correct our
application if we obtain a
written letter from the existing registrant
consenting to our use of "The
Forum, Inc." as our corporate name.We will be operating as a domestic non-profit
corporation continuing the arts
and cultural activities for which we are already
recognized in the community.
I think you are generally familiar with our history
organizing and producing
events here in St. Thomas, but the following may be
of interest for those who
are not familiar with us. The Hebrew Congregation
of St. Thomas originally
conceived the group in 1996 to develop and produce
a series of lectures as
part of its 200th Birthday celebrations. The effort
was successful and, with
the subsequent support of a major donor, the group
continued producing arts
and cultural programs, bringing to St. Thomas a wide
variety of artistic and
dramatic events that would otherwise be commerically
unviable to consider.
The Forum is probably now known best for the
Puerto Rican Symphony Orchestra
concert in its 5th year, our Spring Casals artist,
and the annual Forum Film
Festivals. After the donor retired to the States,
the group
's leadership decided to continue its activities
and to organize The Forum
as a separate domestic non-profit corporation to
promote in the U.S. Virgin
Islands the appreciation, understanding and
performance of art, film, drama,
and music. And, thus our recent filing. We truly appreciate your consideration of our
request. We feel the two names
are not a source of confusion and that they are
substantially distinguished
from each other. I am happy to provide any further
information that you may
require or answer questions you may have. I am best
reached by email or at the
number below during the business day until 3 PM. If
your review is favorable,
written correspondence notifying us of this should
be addressed to Mr.
Cornelius B. Prior, Jr. at the address below as he
is the initial registered
agent for our corporate filing.Sincerely,
