Greetings
Jeffrey,
Someone will be passing through town whom you may be interested in
meeting. Nicholas (Colly) Myers is the former (in fact, first) CEO of Symbian,
a British software company. Colly and his older brother Sir David Potter
are good examples of the "best and the brightest" leaving
university-based science to become high-tech entrepreneurs. Colly was the chief
software architect at Symbian, and distinct parallels exist between the
evolution of his interests and those of Jeff Hawkins. Colly and I
intersected some time ago, and we are discussing a collaboration converging his
talent in software design and my knowledge of the brain - not dissimilar from
our discussions. Colly will be in New York very briefly in the end of May and I
wonder if you would like to meet him if your schedules mesh. Please let me
know.
Best wishes,

Hi Lesley,
As you may know, Jeffrey and I have continued our discussions about launching a
brain modeling project. I would like to introduce to Jeffrey Prof. Larry
Abbott, Director of the Theoretical Neurobiology Program at Columbia University
and the author of the authoritative text on computational neuroscience. Please
let me know if we can set up a meeting at Jeffrey's convenience.

Hi
Lesley,
Colly Myers will be in NYC just for the weekend visiting his relatives and
could meet on Monday, May 26 anytime as long as he can be back at The Four
Seasons Hotel before 5pm to go to the airport and back to London. He and I were
supposed to meet in my office at 12pm and talk about our
project, but we can meet with Jeffrey instead - or before, or after. I
think his whole Monday before 5pm is flexible. Please advise.

Dear
Jeffrey,
Trust things are under control with you. Colly Myers and I had a very
productive visit earlier this week and have in fact jump-started the
project along the lines of our earlier discussions. As one
of the UK's top software architects from the real world (as opposed
to academe), Colly felt that the idea of grafting macroscopic brainlike
architecture onto micro- and midlevel neural-net circuitry is quite
compelling and has started designing precisely that as a result of our
discussions. He lives in London and plans to eventually bring some of the best
software talent in the UK into the project. So am delighted that we are
finally past the planning stage and are doing actual work. If you want to, we
will keep you posted, and perhaps you will meet Colly during his next visit to
NYC, whenever that may be.
