Rich,
I just spoke with Mark – he was on a plane before and called in when he landed to weigh in on the situation. He wanted me to clarify that for the $20k fee we will redesign and specify under the new color palate, then turn over the documents to Juan Pablo or your team for project completion. At that point we will be stepping out of the project. As I mentioned before, this was to be an easy 1-2-3 project and has turned out to be otherwise. This has gone on much too long, we have no control over the situation and see no end in sight. As you have engaged this other designer it appears that we are obsolete. Thanks for adding this to the previous clarification.
Regards,
Alan

Subject: Naida's Apartment - design changes
Rich,
Per our conversation today I am drafting the enclosed to summarize the design changes at Nadia’s project. Yesterday Susana, our project manager, had a meeting onsite with Jeffrey, Nadia and Juan Pablo Molyneux (the color expert). The result of the meeting was that the entire color palate for the apartment is to change and head in a new direction. The result is that we need to redesign all material colors and types (in some cases). Zeff will need to put together a new presentation for Jeffrey and Nadia to review and approve. From there we will need to produce new drawings for all the vendors and manufacturers involved to understand the changes. In addition, we will need to order new material for all fabrics, leathers, materials, etc that have changed.
Obviously, this new exercise is a deviation from the approved design which in most cases is imminently to be completed. This is resulting in extra time and service beyond our agreement – at the onset the project was to be a simple 1-2-3 project. As discussed Zeff will need a small fee of $20k to orchestrate this additional service.
As an alternative, we have no issues if you want Juan Pablo to design and specify the changes. We would provide him with vendor contacts and he could document, specify, order and deliver all necessary fabrics, leathers, etc. He would also need to issue complete specifications to the GC for all millwork and paint material & color changes. This option would result in no change from Zeff Design.
Please advise how you would like to proceed. As always I am available to discuss should you have any questions on the enclosed.
Regards,
Alan
