I just pulled an article from the internet and it does a far
better job than I could in summarizing the meeting. My short take on it was:
1.
The applicant came into the meeting trying to emphasize
that the proposal was backed by local persons, as opposed to off island
continentals, who ought to be supported.
2.
The proposal, they said orally, was not to build and
operate a replica of the Willy T as depicted in their written application;
instead the project was an ecologically driven effort to provide moorings to
save the ocean floor and educate children and the only way to pay to install
and maintain them was to use revenues generated by the restaurant.
3.
The audience and even the Commission seemed skeptical
about this politically correct spin.
4.
Note that the snake oil salesman employed by the
applicant was Marshall Bell.
5.
The Commission has 30 days to make a decision.
I will send the article in a separate e mail.
