Have arrived safely in Bhutan - landing here makes
Cusco look like JFK on a clear beautiful day on a
straight in! It was very very hairy. There were 9 of
us on the plane and when we landed everyone
clapped! The high point of the pre landing is that
we flew over Everest - the low point followed when
we then dive bombed the runway, zigzagging through
the mountain pass- it was amazing to see and to
feel.
Bhutan is simply breath taking - it is completley
and utterly unspoilt, untouched by time or the
outside world. This is not a country you should
miss. I am having problems w/the altitude though - i
feel quite dizzy and am having a hard time
breathing, but am sure I will feel better tom. I
have already had tea w/a lama - an altitude
recuperative tea! A monk, not a hairy 4 legged
animal in case you were wondering.
The Sat phone works here - BB and regular phone no.
Obviously I have internet though - in my bedroom no
less which makes me happy.
