We also need a section arguing that if 2422b were to be interpreted broadly to criminalize federally all vague inducements, it would mean that 2422a would also have to e interptreted broadly since it uses essentially the same language with regard to travel and adults. This would produce absurd and unacceptable results. It would make it a 2o year federal crime for a man to induce an adult woman to travel with him tohave sex in exchange for anything of value eg airline tix,fanc hotel,jewlry. Therefore both statutes have to be interpreted narowly eg to require specific sexual inducements clearly communicated over phone etc as in sting cases.
