Hello. I hope this note finds you very well!
I am writing on behalf of my She is leading the "Young NYC" team in the Take Steps Walk for rohn' research this June 11at the South Street Seaport in New York City. ☐ and the 16 friends she's put together for the team have been working hard to raise funds for the walk, which is sponsored by the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA), New York Chapter. I am writing to see if you would consider supporting the team.
The goals of Take Steps are to raise awareness of Crohn's and Colitis, show solidarity with the appx. 1.4 million Americans who have an Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) including (diagnosed April 2008) and to raise money for research into treatments and cures. There have been a lot of exciting breakthroughs in understanding digestive diseases, and promise of even more to come, but funds are urgently needed! It is our fervent hope that a cure for Crohn's will be established in lifetime.
Life for a 16 year old with Crohn's can be very challenging, and for it makes the juggling act of high school all the more intense. Helping others has been a great way for to feel better about her own struggles. For the past 3 years she has donated her time weekly, including tutoring at the Harlem Academy and working the dinner crew at our church's Friday night soup kitchen. Now she is adding the CCFA to her community services. She is very determined to reach her team goal of raising $1,500 for the walk.
