BKF/John Levin - very happy there for 4 =12 years and the only reason I left is because there was a nasty proxy =ight and John Levin was thrown out of the company he built and the =ssets left and firm fell apart
Jacobson Family Office - again there for =ust short of 4 years and only left because of a major reorg at the =ompany and the financial crisis - we had two funds that blew up and =adoff exposure
Brookfield — Basically in the =verall picture, not the long term fit. I was generally happy but =as presented an opportunity by a recruiter. They called about the =FO/Treasurer spot for Peterson (Founder of Blackstone) it seemed like a =nce in a lifetime opportunity. In the end I knew after a month it =asn't the right fit and the President and I were not on the same =age. I tried to stick it out for 2 more years but realized it =asn't in the best interest of the company or myself so we agreed to go =eparate way
My comp at Peterson was based $305k, bonus $150k, 401k match =er year of $26k+ (based on IRS limits), travel reimbursement (I drive =o work) and other medical, dental. etc. The total package was =bout $500k. As I mentioned to you earlier, I am currently at a =lace that I'm consulting for. The company made me an offer but I =asn't sure I wanted the position so agreed to a consulting agreement =or now. They have come back again with another offer which is as =ollows - base $300k, target bonus $150k, travel reimbursement ($1k per =onth) and complete coverage of my COBRA which is $3,500 per =onth. Additionally, I offered a 1% equity interest in the company =greed to increase my base to $350 in January.
