In preparation for the framing, I noticed that there will be a niche for the television. Ideally, the N would be mounted to an articulating arm, so it can be set flush with the wall surface, when not in use. The dimensions of the niche, would be determined by the N. Were you planning on using the N that you already have? If so, where is it currently located? If not, did you have a particular model in mind?

I am not going to use the same tv (too small), but am not quite sure what size the new one will be. Do you need to know by Tuesday?

I can work around that for a couple of days. I realize the choice of available tv options is off the charts. Building a niche for a tv, automatically restricts you to future size upgrades. However, one dimension that (in your exhaustive search) should be dialed in, is the thickness. Currently, readily available televisions are available in a LED, LCD, and Plasma format. I'm no techie, i.e. I deal with the application of math, chemistry, physics, history, and reading comprehension, on a daily basis. Semi-conductors are outside of my knowledge base. Once all those little bytes have been neatly packaged, game on.

See if you can narrow your search to present me with the overall thickness of the television. Gabby has specified that the existing wall will be padded approximately 2", and many LED type televisions fall within that dimension. If, however, you opt to go with a thicker tv, we may need to forego the articulating arm, and simply bolt the thing to the wall (So that it doesn't project beyond wall plane)

Sorry for the long-winded explanation, but I thought it wise to give you some parameters.

Advice on what type of N to buy for my bedroom (in DC)? I don't know the difference between LED, 4D, blah blah. Per below from my contractor, it is supposed to be thin. Also prefer one that comes without the CIA/NSA option....

I just looked and those are crazy expensive. Does your tech guy still work for you? My Apple TV in NY is on the fritz!
