Would you say that the sensory apparatus and brain - eyes ears other s=nses are species specific icons ( symbols ) for modes of knowing and exper=ence - seeing hearing thinking feeling imagining etc Also it seems to me that humans by giving names to modes of knowing an= experience ( perception ) have created the universe as a human construct = Everything from a quark to a boson to a galaxy is a name or description b=stowed by humans to a mode of knowing or experience in awareness . This holds true for what we call a body mind =enes other animals and species
Taxonomy is symbol making for knowing and experience . Do we know anything about the origin of symbolic language including

Yes, I would say that the sensory appar=tus and brain are species-specific icons. My entire body is just an icon. =hen I move my hand and grab something, even that movement is just an icon.=l don't know what I am really doing in objective reality—I only know my own actions under the limits of=the descriptions available within my interface. Genes, animals, speci=s, and even spacetime itself are just icons.
The evolutionary arguments against true=nbsp;perceptions do not hold against true logic and math, since we do=need to reason about fitness payoffs—two bites of an apple give rou=hly twice the payoff as one bite, for instance. There are no selection pressures to be geniuses at math and logic, and few of us=are. But we need to have enough competence to get the payoffs we need.
I wouldn't say that the spazetime universe is itself a conscious agent, but that it is the format=of the interface of human conscious agents.
I am working on a mathematical theory&n=sp;of how conscious agents evolve languages to better understand each=other. It seems that they can get more information about each other withou= violating the second law of thermodynamics, if they hillclimb mutual information. Fun research ahead on this one!=/span>

Yes, I agree that the spacetime universe is a human construct. It is n=t the fundamental reality. Physicists are now recognizing this. They say, =93Spacetime is doomed," meaning it is not the fundamental reality that t=ey had hoped it would be. They don't know what is the fundamental reality, and are searching for it. But they d=n't want to take seriously the idea that consciousness might be the fund=mental reality. I saw this first hand when I participated in the FQXi conf=rence in Banff last summer, where physicists and cosmologists met to grapple with the fundamental nature of =eality. Chalmers was there too, and spoke about consciousness.

names are not important. . the que=tion is are some things more similar or more different. = if i measure the height of 100 people , a graph o= heights will form a shape. a bell shaped curve,&n=sp; . that shape is everywhere. the shape is not a consious artifact. . the shape is not aware. .&=bsp; a human construct gives it a name. percieves it etc but it exists wit=out either. it is an organizing principle.

No shape can be divorced from the seeing of it. No seeing can be divorce= from a witnessing awareness or seer . Seer and scenery are modifica=ions of the same awareness
Awareness modifies its as all shapes and forms and also the witnessing o= them. There is nothing else.
