A plane w=th four people aboard crashed into the Atlantic off the coast of Long Islan= Saturday, officials said.

The plane, a Pi=er PA-31Navajo, went down about a mile off shore, near Indian Wells Beach,=at around 2:50 p.m. the U.S. Coast Guard said.

Two bodies were recovered, and two were still missing by early evening,=the Coast Guard said. East Hampton Town Police C=ief Michael Sarlo confirmed the aircraft had lost contact with East Hampton=Airport.

The Coast Guard, Air National Gua=d and East Hampton Town Police were searching for survivors.
