Re:
boris and I sitting here talking about you, wondering where and how are you
Address? Phone ? Glad
Oh, nice to hear from you. I'm doing great! I have you to thank for it. You and Boris have done an exceptional thing for me: created an opportunity for me to grow and have control over my life. I no longer have unbearable amount of stress and fear.
The attorney that Boris has recommended did a professional job. After couple years of working with her, my case was approved and last year I got my green card. The dozen's of attorneys that I've visited said my case have no chance. Alas, my husband (who played crucial part) and I have recently separated because we see our present and future differently. In 3.5 years I would be eligible to apply for citizenship.
Because of your financial support and sponsoring my education at Hackreactor, I acquired practical skills: After I got my work permit, I was able to secure a job as software engineer. However, I left that startup few month ago to look for a better cultural fit. I live in Palo Alto. I'm currently preparing for technical interviews and will be applying to tech companies in a bay area soon.
There are other two exciting things that I'm working on:
I'm a member of i and we are participating in I lsponsored bylM Everyone in a team is a volunteer. I'm learning tons about how to design embedded systems. In January our team won "Innovation" award from Next competition is in a month, but we don't have enough skilled people it is going to be quite challenging.
I recently settled on a business idea. I currently in process of validating it. I think I can work during the day as a software engineer and take care of the "business" after work. It's a stepping stone in my entrepreneurial carrier. It doesn't require startup capital or skilled team members. But it requires some leg work. The idea is not new and already exists on a market but I will figure out how to be different, better and take over niche that is still for grabs. The idea is simple: massage therapists on demand with a focus on tech companies with 50-500 employees. I've spoken with some office managers/HR people who are responsible for employees "happiness", they seems to be kin on the idea of offering massage to their employees. I'm in a process of creating web and mobile application to look credible and collect useful feedback. I have one committed male masseuse and I'm looking into how to lure female one.
Unfortunately, I stopped traveling for bridge tournaments (or any traveling for that matter)
That is my life in a nutshell. I hope you and Boris are well and prosper :)
Thank you for reading,
I don't have a permanent place of my own. I'm staying with a friend in until I get a job. I after that I will move close to it.
