I agree with your observation that a military death is no less valuable than a civilian one. You also seemed to have a fatalistic view about conflict in the Gulf. When you put these two views alongside each other, I worry that one might conclude that we should accept civilian casualties in parts of the world where we seem to accept military casualties. That I do not agree with. Civilians do not choose to place themselves in harm's way.

in Israel all civilians MUST serve. now you put a uniform on a civilian no choice, in the middle east few are what you call voluntary. In fact i may argue that your "acceptance" of military deaths "leads to longer conflicts. it is the civilian ones that people pay attention to.
