Re: Meeting Confirmation
To : Jeffrey Epstein, President of the Jeffrey Epstein Foundation,
Dear Jeffrey,
I was very happy to hear that you are interested in the project concerning starting a Theoretical Physics Center in Long Island, in the Bahamas. So far there has been great interest from the University of Miami, they suggested that such center could be an extension of their theoretical physics group. There has been interest also from physicists from Havana and from Puerto Rico. There have been positive comments also from Fernando Quevedo, the head of the ICTP, the International Center for Theoretical Physics, an Italy and UN funded organization, based in Trieste Italy who suggested there could be a possibility the ICTP could have some involvement (may be to fund participation from Cuban physicists?). Also Richard Keyworth, a developer in Long Island has mentioned that he was willing to sell the land needed for the center at a discount and also help, using his connections, to get some (but probably not enough) funding from the Bahamian government.
We would like to know to what extent you would like to participate in this development, of course we can take your suggestions concerning the favorite topics you would like to emphasize for example gravity?, I understand this is one of your favorite topics, since you once organized a conference on this topic. I am planning to travel to both Miami and Long Island in March, I could also visit you for example in the Virgin Islands, but other places could be as well, to discuss the extent of your participation, your input on what subjects you would like to be emphasized, what are your suggestions for the name of the center, etc., anything you want.
All the best,
Eduardo Guendelman,
Physics, Ben Gurion University, Beer Sheva, Israel.
Dear Jeff,
You are invited to OUR CONFERENCE IN BAHAMAS, BASIC2019 which will be taking place in Stella Maris in Long Island Bahamas,
January 6 to 12 2019
see the announcement of our next conference, https://cgc.physics.miami.edu/BASIC2019Announcement.html Also, it may be interesting for you to learn about what will be taking place around our BASIC2019 conference and the future of our BASIC project.
Walking distance from our conference an amazing development that will change Long Island Bahamas is taking place. Read the full story here in the Caribbean Journal report:
https://www.caribjournal.com/2018/10/16/the-bahamas-is-getting-a-new-five-star-resort-projectfit The developers of this project are very sympathetic to our BASIC project and will be present in our conference. The prospects for BASIC in Long Island look bright! Come to BASIC2019 and be part in the development of the Bahamas Advanced Study Institute and Conferences!
Best,
Eduardo Guendelman and Thom Curtright
