The conference in Prague was inspiring; I got to know a number of interesting minds, like John Langford from Microsoft research, brilliant weirdos such as Brendan Ruff (finds his own algorithms for visual perception that seem to work well enough for selling them to the car industry), and Steve DiPaola from Simon Fraser (who makes psychologically meaningful models of the perception of art).
