Nice to hear from you.
Because of your support I've registered for San Diego for next month. I also went to visit my parents in (my previous trip was almost 2 years ago and they were very happy to see me). I could not go if I didn't have extra money.
I haven't made much progress with my massage application: the person who was supposed to find masseuses had some personal problems. I didn't feel like doing everything myself, so I put it on hold and I'm focusing on a different more exciting idea.
In August I went to SpaceX for our competition. One of the members (lives in Australia) has his own company developing embedded devices. He mentioned that he has a problem: he could not find a platform that meets his needs - creating graphical user interfaces for the bundle of devices, monitoring, analysis of data and control of those devices. It is like "mission control" software only for any kind of systems. I felt a similar problem when I was working with different devices and sensors. After doing some research, I concluded that it is a viable business opportunity.
I've spent some time trying to understand what it would take to design that platform. I'm planning to contact that person and see if I can work with him and design a few web-based applications for his devices and once I have a deeper understanding - create "wordpress" for embedded devices and IoT.
If that doesn't work I will fall back on getting a job. I had a few interviews at tech companies but none of them got me excited about their company/product :(
I can't stop thinking about my ideas. At some point, I must have my own company and not work for some meaningless startup.
While in I've bought 5 books on electronics, microcontrollers (with ARM cpu) for beginners and etc. Some technical books are easier to read in I really enjoy it, even though I have to reread them several times. Yesterday, I read an article about using electromagnetic induction to charge vehicles and I could understand what it was talking about (https://www.economist.com/news/science-and-technology/2130623-electromagnetic-induction-gets-rid-cables-it-now-practical-refuel)
I'm also dabbling with DIY projects, one of them is creating a brain wave reader. I still need to 3D print and buy some components.
Finally, I feel that I'm moving in directions that I always wanted. My learning is slow and not as efficient as I want it to be but it will get better once I find like-minded people and work with them.
