Dear Jeffrey,

Since we last spoke, the research project on the molecular analysis of surgical wound fluids has progressed nicely. We currently have identified 11 genes by microarray that we think may differentiate the low-score wound fluids from the high-score wound fluids. We are currently working on validating this genetic signature. If validated, this would be a diagnostic test which could be used to predict the risk of metastases in breast cancer patients, much like the Oncogene test currently in wide usage, and it could be commercialized in the near future.

The progress we made was possible due to bridging funds from you and other donors. I want to thank you again for your generous support. I believe you will find that your research dollars were efficiently utilized for the maximal gain. If you are interested in learning more about our project, we would love to come and give you a presentation on what we have achieved so far and where we want to go next.

Warmest regards,

Jess Ting
