ditto, pure pleasure start to end
Norman Finkelstein =It;███████████████████████████████████████>
lives on Coney Island
= i was going to write him and mention your interest in him but then f=und his phone number on my Jamaican phone so i called him and made an extr=ordinary discovery—when i asked him how he was, he said "depr=ssed" and his voice showed it—he was going through a very har= and demanding experience which was draining him
=C2* his best student was a Guyanese man who went on to become a d=ctor —25 years ago, he was his closest friend and also lived in NYC. Norm =as godfather to one of his children—then they split up and his wif= and family (also Guyanese) turned on him found some paperwork that allowe= them to drain him of all his assets, i forget how he lost his job and was=homeless but Norman intervenes in his usual way by hiring some strong lawy=rs to claw the money back via lawsuits—but Norman gets into argume=ts with them for overcharging (this is one of Norman's traits) and the= respond vindictively so he is arrested once for harassment and once for &=uot;stalking"—believe it or not—which in Nassau Count= can consist of handing out material in a public place (anti a lawyer) whi=h was in fact a private place, the lawyer's office
he now faces 3 years in prison—he seems scared, having only s=ent about 18 hours under arrest each time
so i sa=d, well the reason i am calling is quite a coincidence, and i briefly char=cterised you and said you had out of the blue responded strongly to his na=e and asked if i could put him in touch with you (I did tell him that like=myself you and more experience than he had with lock-up)
so he cut me off because he had to prepare for some lawyer anti-law=er meeting—of course this is utter nonsense, to get trapped into t=is kind of situation—i told him that Whitey Bulger when finally im=risoned was asked by a young con what he could do to become a criminal, an= Whitey replied "first become a lawyer"
