Re:
Anyone in Boston that I should meet while I'm here this week? Joi/his assistants haven't been responding. Meeting Joscha, Lukin, some other quantum physicists. I put together Satio deck (it's how I named 'kickstarter for science' project) - attached. looking for two types of people right now: - scientists/projects to fund (really cool and unique and searching for financing). Have a few in pipeline, creating a funnel;
- potential advisors to select and curate best projects (established scientists able to say yes/know on projects sourced).
Attached is more info.
It's really early, lots of things to figure out but I thought you might have some ideas about whom to meet.
cant be a community, rich people want to be stars not members
Got it. Will shape it.
Is it a bad idea to limit the access to only who is over $19 wealth? I've noted that it's different how millionaires and billionaires support science/non-profits. Millionaires usually trying to make it bring some profit to their business, billionaires - not.
not an issue except community is a group participation, most rich people prefer their own accolades (not me)
talk /skype tmorw?
Figuring out:
Criteria for projects
Advisory board
Right legal structure
How much philanthropy should talk to scientist over the website
Any thoughts about all that?
I've talked to a number of scientists about Satio. I realized that many of them are tremendously depending from universities and hate that.
Liberating scientists from bureaucracies might be a good message for that... it's a very long-term goal but feels like a right direction following general gig economy trend where you less depends on organizations.
We're already videoshooting some scientists to play with right format to present their projects.
