Yes, I am familiar with this 4 YEAR UNIVERSITY PROGRAM. It's not qui=e the same as reading the books by myself, without getting explanations an= forgetting them within a week... I am sure you could do it but that is no= how l learn.

the fac= that you have lived a priveldged life , and remain ungrateful, blaming me=for you lack of education. schooling. baby, and assume that no matter h=w little you do, or how much you aggravate/nag me, that you should continu= living the same life as if you had done what i asked. im afraid is unreal=stic.

The Great Books program

The Great Books http://wiki/Great_Books program (often called=simply "the Program" or "the New Program" at St. John&=39;s) was developed at the University of Chicago http://wiki/University_of_Chicago by Stringfellow Barr http://wiki/String=ellow_Barr , Scott Buchanan http://wiki/Scott_=uchanan ,Robert Hutchins http://wiki/Robert_Hutchins , and http://wiki/Mortimer_Adler in the mid-1930s as an alternative form of education =o the then rapidly changing undergraduate curriculum. St. John's adopt=d the Great Books program in 1937, when the college was facing the possibi=ity of financial and academic ruin. The Great Books program in use today w=s also influenced by Jacob Klein http://wiki/Jacob_Klein_(philosopher) , who was dean of the college in the 1940s an= 1950s.

The four-year program of study, nearly all of whi=h is mandatory, demands that students read and discuss the works of many o= Western civilization's most prominent contributors to philosophy, the=logy, mathematics, science,

music, poetry, and literature, such as Aristotle, Shakespeare http://wiki/Willia=_Shakespeare , Descartes http://wiki/Ren96C396A=_Descartes , and Einstein http://wiki/Albert_Eins=ein . In line with the views of the program's found=rs—who complained of "vocational interests" that "clutter=quot; other colleges' curricula—"Johnnies", as St. John I-=;s students style themselves, usually value intellectual pursuits for thei= own sake, regardless of whether they have practical application. Tutorial= (mathematics, language, and music), as well as Seminar and Laboratory, ar= discussion-based. In the Mathematics tutorial students often demonstrate =ropositions that mathematicians throughout various ages have laid out. In =he Language tutorial student translations are presented (Ancient Greek is =tudied in the first two years and French for the last two). The tutorials,=with Seminar and Laboratory, constitute the "classes". All class=s, and in particular the Seminar, are considered formal exercises; consequ=ntly, students address one another, as well as their teachers, only by the=r last names during class.

yes not quite the same , but far ahead of what you did read trash, watch tv= and shop. ) , you could have asked the best people in the world questions=that would be intelligent. however your not reading was i guess was =y fault as well. as i read the emails from aug Sept and oct . nothin= has changed but the names you complain about. no help. nagging. expecting=much and contributing little. sorry, my. discussion today was before=i read this email that reflects exactly what i had remembered. that you=have still to say yes, i will do such and such ( except for your flying) a=d actulallydo it. you are loyal and trustworthy.
