When Leighton asked why we didn't replace the barge... I decided for our benefit, that we needed to know how much that would cost.

I contacted a Navy friend in Washington and asked who is building the Navy replacements for the LCM 8 like ours. I am happy to say one of the Principals of that company called me and gave me 30 min of his time to answer my question and discuss the new program. My guess was 2 Million Dollars was the price.. He said it would be more like 3 or 4 Million..

He said that the unit we had and the work we are doing to it is not in vain as it is a very valuable piece of gear.

I have the contact and he has offered to send figures if necessary to back up these assertions, within reason as they aren't making any money quantifying our project for value.

I hope this helps ease some of the concerns that people have.. And... Make it more Well.... Safer for us. ???
