Fwd: Current Affairs in Mongolia
Dear Bruno, David and Olly,
I wanted to reach out to you with my perspective on the current affairs in Mongolia.
Since last Friday Oct 30, 2015, the infighting between factions of political fighting have gotten to the extreme. The Economic Crime Dept of the Criminal Police ("Police") raised his home and arrested Batzaya, I understand, accusing him of awarding TT-GS railway line EPC contract to a false Samsung C&T Company. The Police also raided Samsung C&T local Ulaanbaatar office that day. This information is available online at http://www.ikon.mn/n/Idl
Furthermore, I understand, that I'm a main target for the Police due to our previous engagement with you and your team at McKinsey on the railway project for Phase 1& 2 pursuant to the State Railway Transportation Policy ratified by the Parliament on June 24, 2010 and subsequent Government of Mongolia resolutions, authorizing our joint engagement. The accusation to me is that a false McKinsey & Company was engaged and the proceeds were applied to a third party. We all know that this is an absolutely wrong accusation even after authorities checked on your Beijing office last year. Thus, I understand that actions have been taken today against individual partners of your firm. I fully sympathize with your team members.
Personally, I was extremely lucky that I was out on a business trip outside Mongolia. The Police raided our office, confiscated boxes of documents and laptops of our team. They also raided my home.
I'm safely outside Mongolia. I would be happy to speak on the phone as need be. I have also copied Mr. Michael Richmond at the US Embassy in Ulaanbaatar to provide my perspective as there are always two sides of the story.
I'm reachable over the email. I'm sure that my emails are being tracked as well.
Sincerely,
Ganbat
