Good Afternoon Dr. Krauss,

I would like to find some time to meet with you so that we can discuss the new information my office has received related to the alleged conduct at the November 2016 Australian Skeptics Conference.

Please let me know days and times you are available and I will be glad to coordinate further.

All the best,
Carla

Hi Carla:

As you probably know, I am limited in my visits to the University at present. What you may not know is that I live in -with my family and commute in to Phoenix to work at the University. Because of the current situation this travel is also limited. We could have a Skype meeting at your convenience sometime in the next week or so. Otherwise, the next time I will be in Phoenix will be April 10.12, (one of these days I will be down in Tucson to work with a collaborator on a book). Can you also let me know if you will be presenting me new information at the meeting and I can respond to it at a future meeting or not? If that is the case, perhaps you could provide me the information in advance.

Thanks very much. I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Dr. Krauss,

I wanted to make sure I addressed the other portion of your question below. During our meeting I plan to discuss new information that my office has received related to the allegation of non-consensual physical contact at the 2016 Australian Skeptics Convention. The new information includes a conversation I have had with a witness, this person was named in the BuzzFeed article, and a conversation with the anonymous female who experienced the non-consensual physical contact.

I look forward to meeting with you again to discuss this further.

Thanks!

Hi Dr. Krauss,

In terms of my investigation, the information below is what I am planning to cover during our in-person meeting. During our in-person meeting I will share with you the context of this information, have some questions for you, and of course will provide you with an opportunity to respond or provide any new information. If after our in-person meeting you have additional questions, or would like to provide other information, you are welcome to do so.

I will keep you informed of the status of the investigation and as I near the conclusion you will have a final opportunity to respond.

Thanks!

Thanks for this. I should perhaps have been clearer about my original question though. In order to better be prepared for our meeting I would like to know if you will be providing me with the additional information in advance of our meeting. Also, will that be the only occasion to respond to the information, and/or present other new information or request further information? If not, what kind of timeframe should I expect? Thanks again. I do appreciate your getting back to me.

Dear Erin and Carla:

Following on Carla's expectation, as described below, for our meeting on Tuesday, I would like to clarify all of our expectations for the procedure of each of the meetings on Tuesday. I have expected that these meetings would be primarily informational meetings, in the sense that you would provide me details and context, and that I can ask questions to help me further understand these details, their context, and their relationship to ASU policies. There are some cases where I may be able to provide some immediate responses, but my expectation is that in general I will be surprised, and potentially upset by some of the material you present to me, and I am concerned about framing an adequate response under those conditions. Thus, I think it would be more useful, and fair, for this first meeting to be primarily an opportunity for me to receive information and feedback, and then to have a subsequent meeting at which I will have the opportunity to provide useful information to you in response. Without specifics at this time, it is hard for me to clearly determine what will be necessary, so this seems a reasonable approach to me. Does this sound reasonable to each of you?

Also, I wanted to confirm that I have the option to bring along a support person to the meeting if I think it will be helpful. Is that acceptable to each of you?

Thanks for your consideration of these issues.

Lawrence

Good Afternoon Dr. Krauss,

Our expectation for the meetings is that you will provide a response to each question that is posed to the best of your ability. If you wish to supplement your response(s), you are certainly permitted to do so within a reasonable timeframe following the meeting. If Erin or I have additional questions for you, following the receipt of any supplemental responses or information, we will schedule a follow-up meeting with you.

You are welcome to bring a support person to the meetings with you. However, this individual cannot be someone who may also serve as a witness in our process and they will not be permitted to participate in the meeting.

I look forward to meeting with you again next week.

All the best,
Carla
