Re: Re:
I wish there was a simpler way to say this! Krauss would be dismissive -I believe
Nature at all levels displays -evolution, self organization, self regulation, interactive creativity, sentience (fundamental awareness), complementarity (wave/particle, mind/body)
The problem with physicalists is -they dismiss this as mere philosophy -Krauss, Dawkins, Cox, Neil DeGrasse Tyson and others say -we have no use for philosophy.
Dawkins calls me a "willful obscurantist." At a lecture in Caltech recently he said I was more dangerous than religious fundamentalist. Part of me wants to let it go --there is no winning or losing here
Will need your advice re Sept 18th meeting

evolution is only for living things. other things express "change", need not confuse the two. I think the more you refer to similarities between your views and nietzsche schopenhauer, the scientist, will retreat a bit. I would forever banish the use of the word quantum. it is a math concept that is fact argues against your view. quantum means smallest piece. ie digital, your views are analog, wholeness is not quantum, unless you believe that consciousness in broken into tiny pieces that interact, throw the word in the dustbin. Tell the scientists that you recognize that the term causes concern so you have chosen to abandon it. humility will get you far. your argument would be bolstered by science is only one method of understanding, mathematics its tool, you are looking in realms opaque to mathematical inquiry, hope, for example. its value, how to employ it, why. we will have some face time before the 18th of Sept. I promise you will be well prepared. you can also ask them if anyone theyve ever seen on a death bed, looks to mathematics for the answer. ::))
Yes -will have face time before-I hope. I'm back at the end of the month in NY.
My next book, the galleys of which will be ready in 10 days is co written with a quantum physicist originally from MIT. I know my using the term its traditionalists, In the new book we move beyond quantum explaining -it does not explain life --only good for calculations and technology. Will send or bring galleys when we meet.
We also use evolution in a different context -evolution of the universe. You have given me much to think about --yes will keep in mind --humility goes a long way, The argument re math and death applies to everything in life --love, sex, poetry, longing etc

the way around it , is to clearly define your use as a poetic term. the same way you suggest a golden sunset. no need to look up the periodic table to find the weight of gold
yes - agree
