Report 106: 2nd week at NYUAD

MAKE FRIENDS WITH COLLEAGUES

I would say I'm a huge hit at the office...

One of my colleagues was standing with his wife and I walked up to them and said: "so you must be the mrs?" Then I turned to another colleague's wile next to them, "and you must be the 2nd mrs?"

That raised a huge "NO!" from the wife and she grabbed her husband.

A female colleague received flowers from Admissions because she had been in New York for a long time. When I passed by I asked: "Oh, so your husband's been very bad...?" She didn't really have a come back for that...

I was in my boss's office early in the morning and I said: "Oh good you didn't get arrested last night!" A director happened to walk by and said that just didn't sound right... My boss had been buying the wine for a welcome-party for the Chancellor the night before. Alcohol is illegal so I thought it was a valid question...

JOB DESCRIPTION

I always thought I was responsible for DOING the tasks I was given. When I started doing the tasks I was told that of course I wouldn't do them! I would just ask someone else to do them! There are people to do everything for me! I'm just like Nokia - connecting people!

Now all of New York University Abu Dhabi is gearing up for the first Candidate Weekend next weekend. We identified the 800 top high schools in the world, then their 2 top students, out of those 1600 we chose 160 students to come over 4 weekends. We will chose 100 of those for next school year. I never thought I could be this excited over education!

I had a great, fun week at work! Now I'm ready to pass out for the rest of the weekend...
