• 3 Conference on Power -- Its definition political financial,intellectual , physical, includes reputation, awe, trust, deception, reciprocity. - how it is used, why it is sought, group selection and behavior.

• 4, The World Financial system .. is it archaic, can you use the Internet to create anew model, social, repercussions. what is value, worth , mark to market, what is money, the new debt. computers and their effect on the system - including unemployment. Markets and sophisticated derivatives.

5. The power laws --their derivation and possible implications. zipf pareto etc... scaling . metabolism , human trait distributions ( including intelligence), the ecology of economic systems. their geometric equivalents.

6. Why happiness is overrated. -- cultural definitions contentment fulfillment„ narcotics, hallucinogens, psycho-pharmaceuticals -

7. Music and the Brain. is anticipation -resolution , rhythm vertical and horizontal (melody) harmonies an insight into the structure of the brain.

Two things I should have asked: What do you think of Harvard's financial situation and how long before they are out of it? Where will physics be? I sense it's not such a priority now. Second, I do want to follow up on the bad physicist thing. I let you slip out nicely but really -where is that coming from? I have a time-First pretty more solid relevant track record-can't I guess but be second my collaborator could be relevant every if I'm isolated and need to attract people or resources. hi there it was very interesting to talk last week seriously you genuinely had different things to say than most others ea talked to and i enjoyed it. perhaps however i should have defended physics a little more.

• it is more difficult to convey the excitement of some of what we do and it is true we are working the edges more but sometimes those edges can open up whole new worlds-literally and of thought.

• as for the new fields below i can see how they can make for exciting discussions and why one would want to be an intellectual tourist for them. the subjects are more accessible but in many cases harder to pin down-both the goals and the key new developments. but they clearly will make for some fascinating back and forth and it sounds pretty funr. btw i find the interchangeability of aspects and participants of 3 and 4 noteworthy.

i do -- ( thats a dangerouse expression ) format ideas. should there be a question to answer , or a problem that the group should focus on? , physics needs no defending to me, however, my point was that seperate from at the moment explanations of the currently unknown, few of the participants or world at large would directly benefit „ unlike a synthetic intellgent machine that could search solution spaces rather than data bases , for medical problems /

I have to say power and the world financial system sound like fascinating topics ripe for broader thinking. Lots to say but better on a real computer or phone. For ex how does one measure power
