RE: Re:
I make about 225K per year these days. Foundation, doctoring and publications. I should be making 500 to 600K like my colleagues with similar skills but Im happy at the public hospital since I feel like the poorest should get the best even if they can't pay. Id work for free for them if I could.
My needs were a little weird this year bc of: and

They work (currently) in
commission paying jobs only (which are boom or bust) so I pay when needed. Last year it was I also pay for my car, clothes, health etc. I support 2 orphanages at about 10K or 15K per year and spend another 15K to support the tiny project It provides basic tools like learning heart sounds or how to do basic resuscitat
h w much is foundation salary, benefits? etc, same for doctoring. after taxes your 225 is 150, you 75 MO 25 MillandIM0 . that leaves . 20k for year. How old are you now.? half of TWO properties. only mentioned one.
Oh I can get exact amount when I get home but round numbers
Foundation is 185K plus benefits of health, 401K (matches 2 to 1 and I put in max). Which ones should I care about?
Doctoring is about 40K or 10k per 2 week block of 24/7 attending. No benefits since I am covered by foundation. This year I did 6 slots so I made 60K (so maybe 245K for 2009 total).
For the Financial Times I write one column per month, about (700 to 1000 based on word count) 1K each. No benefits, just paid per article.
For various textbooks and articles I make about 2500 per year although I generally don't ever see it. So I don't count that. No benefits or other with those.
Mi nd that I have we though 2 properties. we might The build one on we later. live House in and on one a roperty we bought is crap. which I put is a in one all acre my savings piece of at land each in purchase, one 5 years ago and one 3 years ago but pretty much paid for them. House is 3.5m and land is 800K at last valuation.
I used to be able to save more till my family lined up (recent). I also did more consulting which paid well. Foundation does not allow.
Yes you are right - 20K per year for my living is about right too. We live pretty simple lives. For foundation, I travel 4 months per year and so all of that is paid for. My travel budget last year (for me and my team) was about 525K since it involves security teams, fuel, etc. Alone for me, maybe 125k.
